The filter water was too strong of a flow for my fish. The cartridges did not seem to filter out particles. The cartridges were also not available locally. I would need to special order these to arrive. And in a bind, that is not convenient when fish lives are at stake. This also does not sit low enough in my aquarium. So the noise of this is very obnoxious. I set it to the lowest flow and it's still too much water flow for my angelfish. And the debris goes straight through the filter cartridge. The siphon option is a cool option. I did not have the opportunity to try this. But having to add another filtration system to assist with particles in the aquarium is not what I am looking for in a quality filtration system.Unfortunately, when I set this for a return, I was notified that I may not get the entire amount back because I used it? This was supposed to have a return policy. I am returning it within the amount of time yet told I may not get the entire amount back? ImThis is a defective item .. does not perform for healthy fish lives.I will repost if I do not receive the full credit back. Otherwise, buyer beware. I am returning this within the time of the return, yet I may not receive the full credit?Again, I will repost if I do receive the full credit.I had high hopes for this filtration system. Very very disappointed. Inconvenient and very risky to my prize fish aquarium set up.

Massive upgrade from my 10 year old version. Quite and has useful features. A spigot for water changes and water flow control. I also appreciate that this model's peices are interchangeable with the previous version because, I don't like the aesthetic of the water filter pipe so, I just switched this part. Props to the designer 🫡

Disclosure: I didn't get this thing for free like other reviews. I spent my own dime folks, so you can feel better knowing my review is for reals. This Aqueon filter is the upgraded March 2024 version to the old model and it's much better!!Old model specs: Slightly smaller depth on back and has that gimicky LED water level light (see pic). The old model does not have a telescoping down spout and the lid rattles no matter how you position or push down on it. Also, the down spout slits are a little too big, so be careful if you have baby shrimps or they will get sucked into the filter and die. I recommend a pre-filter sponge placed over the down spout if you have shrimps. The older model also does not have adjustable water flow. There is only the full bore high throttle setting. Lastly, the impeller is smaller and does not move as much water as the new improved model with bigger magnet impeller (see pic).New model specs: Adjustable down spout with smaller slits, automatic restart after power failure, water flow control, bigger impellar for max suction, and water extraction tube for easier water changes, but I still prefer the old method of using a cup and bucket for 20% water changes. The lid fits perfect and most importantly doesn't rattle. The motor makes a slight hum sound, but nothing too crazy, since it's submerged in the tank, so noise is greatly dampened. I didn't use the bio basket or little blue plastic water diffuser, because I prefer to customize my own filter media. I put Aqua Clear yellow sponges on bottom, then quilt polyster batting in middle (sewing section @ wally world), and top it off with ceramic cylinders in a zipper mesh bag. Don't forget to apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly to the outside magnet impeller to improve function and reduce rattle hum. I 💚 the all black color for easy blending into the background compared to other vendors that have gaudy blue, red, or clear color plastics. Conclusion: Throw the old Aqueon model in the rubbish as none of the parts are transferable to the new model. This new model gives the Tidal 35 a run for their money. The new Aqueon model edges out the Tidal 35 slightly, because it's less bulky & cumbersome, water flow is not as intense as the Tidal 35, there's no impeller rattle noise, and the lid does not rattle either. Good job Aqueon!!I'll update this review if I run into any issues, but so far so good 💙...May 2024 Update: I got nothing. This thing still works like a champ!! Make sure to disassemble the tube and impellar and clean the funk out for maximum flow efficiency.

I own a smaller one, personal preference to upgrade to a bigger one, glade I did!!!WORKS WELL!!UPDATE 2-1-2025I contacted Aqueon company and explained the "blow by" of water from the motor connection point. I did what Aqueon suggested, separate the motor unit from the filter connection (they is a small release clip), next take a pick and remove the "O-ring" from the base, place a dab of "Vaseline" around the base where the "O-ring" sits, apply Vaseline around the "O-ring" and reset the "O-ring" to the motor base. reconnect the 2 parts. (It worked for me, make sure the motor is sitting square to its mounting, and make sure the clip is engaged)

Estos filtros son muy buenos pero no venden los cartuchos de repuesto en Amazon México, tienen que publicar también los cartuchos de repuesto porque si no va a ser casi imposible conseguir los repuestos en los comercios en México.
