It's a great coop for, a max, of three of the smaller size bantam chickens! I have three Millie Fleurs bantams and they fit perfect in it. The assembly was easy to do! The instructions are very easy to follow. It seems pretty sturdy, except for the door locks! They're very flimsy, and can easily tear up! I do see myself having to replace them before much longer! Also, i'll be adding weather sealer as well. The nesting box lid doesn't suggest a lock so, i used one of the locks from the wire run door, cause it calls for two on that door. I just used one lock, in the center of the wire door, and used the other lock on the nesting box lid. Again, i'll be replacing all the locks soon with a sturdy locks! Another thing, i moved the roosting bars up higher because they're just way to low and my chickens didn't like them that low! Since i moved them up higher, my chickens are finally roosting on them! So, i'm giving three stars for the waterproof, five stars for easy assembly, and four stars because another lock should've been added to the nesting box lid, and the roosting bars should be marked up higher then the instructions call for! Over all, it's a great LITTLE coop

Very poor quality construction. Flimsy wood, comes with no instructions, and no hardware for assembly.

This is a pretty good kit. I have a big existing chicken coop with large run for my flock, but I needed a smaller coop/run to use as a temporary quarantine coop to house new pullets before integrating them into the rest of my flock. Here are some important things to consider:1) it's made of very soft/lightweight wood that's very absorbent and prone to weather damage. My recommendation is to treat it with a wood hardener to strengthen it up a bunch. Also, don't even think of using this without either painting it or weather-sealing it. If you don't do that, it's going to fall apart quickly.2) fasteners: they designed this to be held together with the fewest number of fasteners possible. I would highly recommend getting some deck screws and strategically add more screws to hold it together.3) the included barrel-bolts (latches): the included barrel-bolts are flimsy and under-rated for this application. Ditch them and get some strong high quality barrel-bolts. Also, the door to the henhouse is only secured by 1 barrel-bolt, but it really needs 2 (one at top and one at bottom).4) the slide out tray: is not retained by any locking/securing mechanism at all. This is a security risk if you have raccoons in your area.5) the nest box lid: is not retained by any locking/securing mechanism at all and is very light weight. It could be blown open by wind or opened by a predator. You'll need some kind of latch to keep it securely shut.6) the next box floor is not fastened in place at all, it just drops down in there and is held in place by gravity. Persistent and intelligent predators like raccoons will have no problem figuring out how to breach the hen house through the nest box floor. You'll need to secure it somehow.7) the actual size: it's pretty tiny. Seller claims it's suitable for 3-5 chickens. This is a grotesque misrepresentation. This thing will accommodate 2 chickens comfortably, 3 is pushing it. This photo they include that shows chickens is obviously photoshopped as those chicken images are shrunk by 50% or more.Pros: it is very cute, it was easy and quick to assemble, it's light enough that I can pick it up and move it around as needed by myself.

Upsides: This little coop is great! The instructions and packaging was easy to read and understand it came with all the hardware. The wood is raw and kind of soft so easy to work with but once its together its pretty stable and sturdy. I'd recommend putting weather proof stain on the wood maybe before assembly to make sure you get all parts. Its base is easy to modify how you want or need for example I added an extra metal mesh floor underneath the nesting box tray and also added a mesh floor to the bottom of the coop to full enclose it because I'll be housing Quail in this. Its a decent size even though there are only 2 nesting boxes it is rather roomy within. Obviously for a chicken the run isn't big enough but for quail this is great! My next step is going to be lifting it up on some stilts to raise it off the ground.Downsides: I noticed the latch hardware that come with the kit are basic and aren't suited for locks. The latches hold up just fine(I dont feel they would unlatch or budge if something was trying to shake the door or anything) but there's only one for the nesting box door and two for the run door with absolutely no latch on the nesting box hatch on the back end so I'd suggest getting some other latch for that. The hatch is light weight and I wouldn't be surprised if a chicken or quail could push it open themselves so an extra latch is needed!

I purchased this coop as a place to transition my 3-week old hens to a lager enclosure before putting them in the big-girl coop. The package arrived early and took about an hour to assemble by myself. The directions lack a little detail, but with some common sense it is not too bad to figure out. The directions note the only tools needed are a screwdriver and wrench, but an electric screwdriver or drill are a big help. Not sure I could have tightened all those screws by hand. I love just about everything with this coop, from the simple assembly, sturdy construction, etc. I was especially impressed with the design of the lid on the nesting box as it tucks under the wall to shed water (a design flaw in other high-end coops) and even included a prop to hold the nesting box lid open. As much as I am impressed with this coop there were a few things that would have made it better. The slide bolts (locks) are kinda cheap (but they work). I really would have liked a lock on the lid for the nesting box. I think a big enough bird could lift it open and I imagine a racoon or opossum could probably figure it out too (but an easy fix, just by a hook and eyebolt latch). I think my biggest issue is access to the bottom section of the coop, there is a door in the corner, but it is fairly small and makes it difficult to reach to the back of the pen (which is where I like to place the food and water). If you build this as a permanent structure on the ground or onto something like a piece of plywood, it will also make any cleaning of the pen difficult. I currently have it on a tarp on my porch, so all I have to do is lift it up and remove the tarp to clean the pen. Would love to have seen an additional access door. With that being said, if I needed a another small coop I wouldn't hesitate buying this one again.
