My daughter's car's trunk would not stay open these Trunk Lift Supports Struts made it just like new.

They were easy to install and worked great for a week or so.After opening the trunk lid for just the 5th time, one of the struts broke. The threaded rod that screws into the plastic housing stripped out. The housing should really be made out of metal not plastic - but I guess you get what you pay for. These could last on a lighter trunk lid but apparently not on a 2001 300M. Or maybe I just got a defective one.Update: Amazon replaced the broken strut. Before I installed this one, I unscrewed the plastic housings at the thread ends of the rods and put JB Weld epoxy inside the housing and then screwed the housing back on. I let the epoxy cure for 24 hours and then re-installed the strut. This hopefully will help prevent the rod from stripping out too easily.I don't think that using epoxy after the rod strips out would work though.Also, ensure that the plastic housing is on tight but don't overtighten it! I didn't check the strut on the one that failed - it could have been loose. The replacement was loose on one endI also think that the cold weather (like below freezing) could also put added stress on the strut so I'm careful to not force the trunk open if I find any resistance.In short, you have to baby it - but that's better than having the trunk lid fall on your head as what happened to me a number of times.

Perfect fit on my 2003 Chrysler 300M and work great, plus an excellent price. Delivered in 2 days as promised. I'm completely satisfied.

Fits perfectly on my 99 Chrysler 300m now I don't have to worry about holding trunk open
