I purchased this in the hopes of using it as a stropping belt to sharpen knives and hatchets. What A mistake I made. This "leather" began to split and delaminate shortly after use. Take it from me, spend a few extra bucks and get something more substantial, as I cant be sure this is even real leather at all >:(

This is not leather as advertised, I had a stronger worded review, but was not allowed to post it. I tried to brand a piece, which is the purpose of my purchase. I know what leather smells like when it’s branded. It definitely shouldn’t melt and create, a smoke that causes nausea and headaches.

If you're looking for a leather or "vegan leather" then you found the stuff. If you're looking to tool and dye this then look elsewhere.I'd give this a zero or negative rating but that's not an option.I was looking for an ACTUAL leather to tool not this plastic crap.

When I received this item I suspected from the feel of it that it was not real leather. To test my assumption I tried putting a lighter flame to one edge. It melted. Leather does not melt when you apply a flame to it.

Soft, supple leather. Black color is very true. This would make a nice purse strap or craft leather. The underside of the leather is smooth and clean.
