Adhesive is terrible it wouldn’t stay stuck to my laptop. I’d recommend getting any other product than this one unless you want to superglue it to your laptop or buy better tape. It seems like it would just fall off after a couple months even if it did stick. I wouldn’t trust this to hold an external hard drive. Definitely not worth the price.

I love this little mount. It makes using my external SSD when on the go a joy.Prior to the DriveSlide, I'd find myself just letting my SSD dangle like dongle if I was using my laptop -- well -- on my lap. And that always runs the risk of an accidental disconnection in the middle of editing pictures or video. Not good.Enter the DriveSlide. Yeah, it leaves me with a plastic receiver stuck to my MacBook, but having my SSD securely mounted (and connected with a separately purchased short USB-C cable) keeps it safe and handy.Adhesion is fantastic. In fact, it was a struggle when I realized I had to unstick the mounting piece from the SSD because I'd put it on wrong.About "wrong." Pay close attention to the instructions, and to how the DriveSlide works. Once the slide is attached to whatever you're attaching it to (in my case, a MacBook Pro), you slide whatever the mount is attached to into the slide, then turn it to lock it in place. The first time I attached it, I had done it in such a way that the mounted SSD would have interfered with opening the MacBook on a desk. So I had to start over (with some fresh super-sticky double-sided pads). This might not make sense now, but it will when you're setting your system up.All in all, I liked it enough that I ordered a second one so I could use my other SSDs in the same way. And that's my only complaint about the product: You have to order a whole new mount-and-slide kit if you want to use more devices. I'd like an option to purchase a few more of the mounts to go with the slide that's already attached.
