This is an adorable and functional toy. I say toy, but it's a lot of fun for curious adults as well - I spent some time taking a closer look at my skin and scalp, as well as the usual bug pieces and leaves. It's designed well with the limited dexterity of little hands in mind, but very young ones will need some help. It's very portable. The magnification is the highest I've seen offered amongst similar items, and it comes with its own SD card. It also came with example slides with pieces such as cricket parts and wool so it can be used immediately, which I think is a really nice touch for something intended as a gift for children. The build quality is solid. I do wish the light was a little brighter, but this isn't a huge problem as the clear plastic around the bottom allows for supplementary light such as a torch - but that does mean you might need another pair of hands while doing so. I would have enjoyed some empty slides provided alongside the filled ones, just to make it a little easier to pin things down to look at them, but again, this a very small gripe. Overall, a really lovely item that will keep being fun and educational for a long while.

This is a cool little microscope that you can take anywhere and have a lot of fun with, it is easy to pop in your bag when you go out and keeps the kids happy exploring when you get to your destination. It is rechargeable which is fabulous so nothing needed, you can open the box, unpack and go!It has a big focus wheel so easy for small hands.

This is a fine value and something kids and adults can both enjoy.The swivel-tilt display is a great feature and a good reason to buy this model. The built-in battery is charged by a USB cable. The optics are very good, though not quite professional quality.The 2" color display screen is sharp, but would be more useful if it was 3". The screen is 8x the size of the field of view and when using the 4x electronic zoom it is 32x. The images are more impressive on a larger computer screen.The resolution can be set from 2mp to 16mp. At 16mp the detail is fuzzy, so 5 or 8mp will be sufficient. Videos can be recorded at up to 1080p resolution.It comes with a 32gb memory chip, 6 slides, and a tiny yet useful instruction booklet. It will take some time to learn to use all the settings and features. The most important thing is you can press the button on the handle for 2-3 seconds to turn it on or off. Pressing it briefly will select menu options. Turning the ribbed area of the handle will change the focus. Treat it gently and it should last a long time.The photos and videos you make can be copied via the USB cable. No special software is required.You can also operate it live from your PC or Mac using HiView software downloaded from: HVScam.comClick on the flag in the top right corner to see the website in English.There is no optical zoom and no lighted stage for viewing slides. If you want to take pictures of complete coins or stamps, you will need a stand or tube to hold it far enough away. The wide focus range can handle this.
