I went through two air other-brand poppers that were horrible. One burned out within the first year, the other one spit kernels everywhere d and would skate around my counter = it was a piece of junk (too many unpopped kernels). I decided to spend a little bit more and purchased the Hamilton Beach. It's perfect. It doesn't leave many unpopped kernels, Most importantly, the popcorn it produces is light and fluffy. It's definitely a keeper!

This popper is somewhat easier to use and makes slightly more popcorn than the Redenbacher version. the only downside vs the other is that the plastic funnel is a bit too short and needed to be curved more. As a result, it is more prone to let seeds escape in the air flow, and because the angle isn't tight enough, the seeds will go scattering over and past whatever bowl you are using to catch the popcorn when it comes off. This is especially noticeable when you get down to the last few kernels that need popping.Other than that, this was a perfectly serviceable and adequate hot air popper, easy to use and extremely simple to clean if you don't use the metal seed-pan to melt some butter.

This thing is a big improvement over the last hot-air popper I had. There isn't much to say other then it seems like a quality product, it makes great popcorn - fast. No oil, unless you add butter after :) mmmm...It's a nice festive 'movie night' red, I like that as well. Some complain about no off/on switch, it isn't an issue for me, I would never leave something like this plugged in anyway. I suspect the manufacturer makes them this way so users won't leave them plugged in. The reason this is so fast is there is a lot of amps and heat going on...you don't want that plugged in if not actively in use.Anyway, if you like fast popcorn with minimal fuss, look no further.Happy movie night!

I'm someone who always gets annoyed that I'm throwing away 20 kernels every time I microwave popcorn, so the application of this product is very refreshing. I have to take a spoon and throw back on average 3 kernels each time, but doing so gives you a 100% pop rate. I've used it probably 15 times so far and I think I've seen 1 kernel total at the bottom of all the bowls. The product is fluffy and not overcooked. The machine does a good job. It's beyond easy to clean after use as well.Couple smaller negatives:Like others said, I don't know why they don't just include an on/off switch. I'm not an electrical expert or product engineer, so take it for what it is, but this design genuinely seems hazardous. That said, I haven't had any issue so far.The butter warmer also is kind of useless to be honest, unless you keep butter out. I leave mine in the fridge like a normal person, and it doesn't get hot enough to melt everything during the time of operation while popping.Just use a pan or microwave instead.

Our home microwave works fine with the prepackaged microwave corn but not with a loose-kernel microwave popper--the yield was perhaps 75%, leaving many un-popped kernels. (Yes, the popcorn was fresh.) Old-fashioned 'oil in pot on stovetop' popping is easy enough, but I really didn't want the oil, even canola. So I decided to try an air popper, and chose this Hamilton Beach model. Price and brand name were primary considerations, although I checked the reviews as well. This machine is well-made and works very well. The manual is clear, concise, and accurate. Three machine parts, total. Operation is simple enough for a child, but do NOT let a child use it without supervision--the parts get hot enough for some serious burns to occur. And yes, it is amusing to watch the kernels pop.But there are a couple of little details a buyer may want to consider...My first batch was 'by the book'--filled the included measure cup with conventional major-brand popcorn and in a couple of minutes, viola! A LARGE bowl of perfectly-popped corn. Skipped butter & salt re dietary restrictions, and yep, it was great. However, the next day I wanted a *small* amount. I also wanted to try a different variety of corn that I'd had for a while. The kernels are tiny compared to the regular corn.Didn't think this through in advance. The popping process uses a decently-powerful, vertically-oriented fan (think 'heat gun') constantly churning the kernels upward while they absorb the heat necessary to pop. With a smaller kernel size and fewer total kernels, I wound up with a lot of tiny, really hot kernels flying out the chute. My large bowl caught most of them; the rest became organic ball bearings on the floor until I broke out the vacuum. And the yield was (optimistically) perhaps 20%.Obviously, the weight of a 'full load' of kernels (of regular size) is necessary for satisfactory operation. Which means when you use this machine, you're going to get (from the owners manual) 'up to 18 cups (4.3L) of popped corn.' In other words--*no small batches.*So you'll always have *plenty* to share with your friends... or the birds. :-)
