This is a perfect scratching post! One cat likes horizontal, the kitten prefers vertical (usually my furniture). This post satisfies both as well as being very lovely, nicer than I expected. I love that the bottom fits under furniture and that it is double-sided. Very easy to assemble with large screws and a real screwdriver. It took 13 minutes. The directions are clear enough with the pictures to understand how it goes together. It does NOT mention the little ball, so don’t forget to put it in the slot BEFORE you attach the second side!

This is easy to put together. The kitten took to it super fast. The only downside is that it will leave bits of debris from the corrugated cardboard but I'd much rather have that than my couch torn up. It's two-sided which is great and you can stick one end under the couch (if your couch is open enough) or elsewhere - to stabilize it if need be...though, we haven't had that issue yet (he's still a baby though). I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.

Nice scratcher. Great for cats that like a good vertical scratch, yet also will appeal to those who like a horizontal stretch.I didnt notice the ball, so I wondered why there was a channel/trough in the center of the base. I realize now after reading some reviews and taking closer look at picture that the ball goes in there. I did get one, just didnt see it. It is on the floor where I put it together. Oops. I think I can pop it in without having to undo anything.Very easy to put together. I took my time and it was less than 5 minutes. Plenty of plastic screws, and includes a small reusable flat head screw driver. Instructions are easy, although a tad faint in print.Strong, sturdy. This scratcher is meant for placement at couch, bed, or dresser. Tucking it under something provides added stability.Just remember that this is a carboard item put together with plastic screws. It is durable feeling but be reasonable.To get my cats interested, I take some of my own catnip and sprinkle it on. That usually draws their interest. Treats can help too.5 stars. I am considering another as a gift. If I learn anything new or experience anything worth sharing I will be back to do so.
