I have put together IKEA and other furniture items for years. There is nothing new or terribly complicated in this assembly. The instructions are clear if a little hard to read. But the preset holes for the runner were about 1/8th of an inch off. A big enough deal that the bottom drawer overlaps the top and won't close AND it is not possible to open the top drawer without opening the bottom first. And it looks terrible. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. Even if it was constructed perfectly it is not worth the money.

Overall, this was a good quality product for the cost. I ordered both the two drawer (5093) and (5092) cabinets for my home office. This a laminated particle board "ready to assemble" product. All of the drawers and the outer box must be assembled from the parts that are packed as a stack panels. Though some reviews have complained about the number of parts (and there are a lot), I can't say that there were any parts that could have been replaced with alternatives without resulting in a bulkier shipment (higher cost), or lower quality construction. Both products arrived in well organized and protected packaging. There were some very rigid cardboard protectors and Styrofoam protection blocks, and the entire stack of materials was sealed in a thick plastic protective layer. The instructions are pictorial with no written description for each step (presumably so they could be universal regardless of language), however I thought there were suitably descriptive. The figures were sufficiently consistent with the received parts that I was never puzzled by the directions. I felt that the particle board pieces were precisely sized without any warping and the holes were very precisely placed, so everything really did come together as it was supposed to without having to force anything. The instructions do not call for using any wood glue, however I did. I had to provide my own Philips head screw driver, and I did use a rubber mallet though I probably shouldn't have. I also used two clamps to help adhere the side panels to the back panels while gluing. I'm not sure how sturdy it would have been without adding glue, but I felt that the final products were pretty sturdy. There were not many blemishes at the laminate edges, but there were some. So don't expect a fine piece of furniture (which you shouldn't at this price).A few pieces of advice for construction:(1) When inserting the wood pegs (I used glue for these), you may need to tap them in to get them all the way inserted. However, be very careful! If you tap too hard the will damage the particle board. In many cases I could just push them all they way in by hand. When I did need to tap them in with a rubber mallet, it only took a few of the lightest taps.(2) There are several metal posts that must be screwed in to the board (part 20-0205) that are part of an interlocking system for attaching boards. Make sure that they are screwed all the way down. In one case, I should have put another turn one of these parts, but because I didn't the part that was attached to post later left a little gap - which was very frustrating.(3) If you are gluing things, you will probably need a couple clamps (https://www.amazon.com/36-in-Aluminum-Bar-Clamp/dp/B01FUV43TW/ref=sr_1_cc_7?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1494712990&sr=1-7-catcorr&keywords=36+inch+bar+clamp+aluminum)(4) The bottom panel has holes for the roller pins to pass through into the side panels. If they are not aligned when you attach the bottom panel, you will not be able to insert the rollers. I saw one review, where that clearly lead to disaster. I had no issue with the first cabinet I assembled, but I did have to make some corrections to align the holes in the second one. So, you might want to put in the rollers at the same time as you attache the bottom panel, just to make sure you get everything aligned right. This is especially important if you are gluing everything!

Great looking cabinet! The next step up would be hundreds more! You are only paying about $100-ish - this is a great cabinet for the price! It's made of thick particle board with light maple laminated sides showing, but looks very good (its not a thin vinyl over the particle board, but a nice thick laminate). It's very sturdy, partly because of construction and partly because it is a legal cabinet - that's one reason I went for the legal-sized cabinet (I'm using legal hanging folders, but letter-sized folders within those). Very roomy - the drawers pull out fully, except for about three inches - and does not wobble. It was packed extremely well to protect the pieces from harm during shipment and had all parts needed (though not all marked correctly, so lay out before assembling fully). As some reviewers noted, the handles are a bit cheap (I can paint them or change those if they bother me too much). These last two small issues are just not a huge deal and should not detract from a great value. Check out the pic I provided - we have our file cabinet in the coat closet, but rolls out easily on the wood floor.

Received item in well packaged box. Easy to assemble as promised. About what I expected except that the wooden finish is actually a thin paper finish that was completely ripped and peeling off the wood upon arrival which makes it look like cork on the front of the drawer. Works just fine but unsightly. No way I can display this in a home office

I did a lot of searching for a mid price file cabinet that would hold legal files and finally chose this one over the metal options.I'm very happy with this product. It was very easy to put together (although the black and white line drawings made it hard to tell which side should be facing where and I ended up putting the bottom piece upside down but only because I didn't think it through). The pieces fit perfectly and the box is packed well so nothing was damaged in shipping. No one will mistake this for real wood but the finish quality seems durable and it looks nice overall. Drawers glide smoothly and casters seem to be good quality, but I haven't moved it around much.I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a legal file cabinet and will be getting another myself.
