It is doing exactly what we needed it to do.

This Special Supplies Weighted Sensory Compression Vest is definitely one of those products that’s gonna be entirely dependent on your individual child needs and personal preferences. This isn’t our first weighted best for our autistic son so I already knew that he really liked them. For the price this is definitely a most cost effective option, I paid over $100 a few months back from a different brand. And honestly it’s not that much nicer than this one. Overall no complaints here!

We have several kids with autism in our class who have different sensory issues, so we tried this out. One child did not like it and shrugged it off. We tried it on another child, and he enjoyed it for a few minutes because of the gentle pressure this vest provided, which helped calm him down. We decided it was best for him to get used to it, so we will gradually add on time so he can get used to it.It's made of sturdy neoprene material that I am familiar with in workout vests and jackets, so I know it will wash well and come out just as new looking as it looks now for years to come. The weights are separate, which is very nice, so that we can add or subtract weight as the child grows and becomes accustomed to wearing it.What we found is that it works well with kids who respond to pressure when they get (or start to get) agitated. If they like it, it's comfortable to wear and easily adjustable.

*AFAB adult usage*Weighted blankets are soothing, but tend to trouble my unstable joints. I love compression and deep pressure tools and appreciate this brand's products, so was excited to give this a try.The L may fit adults, depending on measurements. I've got big hips, making the bottom of the vest ride a bit higher on my torso. The upper closure fits well over my chest. If I had assistance, I could likely get a more fitted/compressed feel. The hook/loop closures on this are strong. Very strong. This is great for helping the vest stay put on kids, but makes it tough to don solo, especially with hand dexterity challenges. If I'm already in a state of anxious overwhelm, it can be a bit claustrophobic feeling trying to take the vest off since it's tough on my fingers. In my attempts to don with the Velcro already attached, the head and shoulder area feel a bit too tight to finagle over myself. The weight is a bit light for my sensory needs, but is probably excellent for smaller or younger users, depending on their preferences. I like that I could potentially add extra. The vest is versatile and can be draped over your shoulders, lap, or chest. Also a great snuggle tool if your cat likes caves (all weight packs on the side in contact with you, bottom hem opened to make a tunnel/cave).This item is well made and could be a great tool for classroom or home use, and can be adapted for adult use. I'd recommend it if deep pressure or being held is a grounding sensation for the intended user.

I work with special needs students, many of them with autism. Compression and weighted blankets are pretty much standard in special need classes. I ordered the large because I usually work middle and high school students. This one is great due to it's ability to accommodate different sizes. I'm 5'0 and 120 lbs. In the picture you can see it fits me. I probably could have tightened it bit more, but it's easier if you have another person helping. The vest is made of two pieces, and due to all the Velcro on the sides and at the shoulders, the vest can be adjusted to fit a smaller middle school student up to a larger high school student. The weights fit in pockets, and there are six bags (they feel like sand bags). Two are half pound bags and the other four are quarter pound bags. This way the weights can be changed to suit the person who is wearing the vest. The vest itself, is light weight, and reminds me of weight suit material, so it's not exactly breathable. That's something to consider if it's hot wherever the vest is going to be worn. Overall, this vest is sturdy, provides moderate compression and low (2lbs) of weight. This is a good option for older kid in secondary school-either middle or high.
