Phasers are one of my fave effects, and they really do come in many flavors. After comparing with the MXR Script Phase 90 and the EHX Small Stone, I find that the Stax mini compares closest to the MXR Phase 90 (my long time favorite), and pays homage to the MXR with the distinct adobe orange color in the graphics. It is ever so slightly more subtle than the MXR, allowing slightly more of the guitar's dry signal into the mix than the MXR does.The Stax unit features a color switch that selects between "vintage" and "modern" tones. Normally I think this would maybe choose between an 8 stage phaser and a 12 stage phaser (or other combination), but to my ears the "vintage mode" simulated the Phase 90 while the "modern mode" added some gain to the signal, giving the phaser a little overdrive under it, much like the early Boss CH-1 Super Chorus does.The Stax Phaser is all metal construction; switches feel solid, and the rate potentiometer feels nice and smooth with the proper resistance. Internals are printed circuit; not surprising as phaser is a common circuit and easily reproducible.The compact size and inexpensive price make this an attractive phaser for the budget-conscious Weekend Warrior. The subtlety of the effect (mentioned in first paragraph) will have me replacing my MXR on my bass pedal board with this Stax unit, as the MXR can sometimes have slightly too much wash for my bass rig.As a pedal nerd, one thing I really appreciate is that designers of the Stax Phaser knew to pay homage to the proper color of the 70s phaser. I have had other mini phaser circuits in the past, and it was irritating to glance down and have trouble spotting the phaser because it was entirely the wrong color. In my mind, based on experience, phasers are ORANGE. They are THIS orange. They are not silver. Or grey. Or blue. They are ORANGE. And this unit knows this.Overall this is a good value for the budget-conscious player.

This thing is a great tool. Tuner does what it should very bright and easy to read. I have guitar in drop c and this tuner tracked it just fine. This is something not all my tuners can do.As a power supply it ok. Obviously not isolated. Not that it claimed to be. If your really right for space this power tuner could be a great help. Or I used it as I filled up my other power supply. And wanted just one or 2 extra spots. This worked perfectly. I was careful about what stayed on the iso supply and what went on this tuner. No added noise, saved me the space of needing a second normal power supply and was an upgrade to my old tuner.If the need came up I would buy this product again.

Llego a buen tiempo.En cuanto a usarlo como fuente de poder esta perfecto. En uno de los canales de 500mA le pude conectar tres pedales, en un solo canal. Eso es bueno, pues quiere decir que en el otro de 500mA le podre conectar 3 y asi sumaran 6 pedales en dos canles y me restan 6 canales para pedales individuales. Eso esta perfecto, igual solo es un aproximado pues va a variar segun la cantidad de corriente que consuma cada pedal.En cuanto al afinador, si escuche que la 1er cuerda le faltaba un poco de afinacion, pero el power stax no lo detectaba, y me marcaba que ya estaba bien afinado, conecte otro afinador y si, efectivamente estaba algo baja la afinaciom. Fuera de eso todo bien.

Bough this after seeing very good reviews and video demos online. Sure enought, I too am extremely happy with the pedal which I use with a Fender electric mandolin. There are no unwanted hums or noises (the problem with the Boss blues OD pedal it replaced)- just many available authentic-sounding overdrive effects that are good for genuine blues and rock distortion. It definitely can be used as a 'clean boost' pedal - or with just a very light overdrive edge- with very good results. Designed superbly. Looks fantastic on my pedal board and thr price is great too. This pedal is all the more reason I'm a big fan of this market of small-sized superb value-priced pedals. I see and hear no reason to pay much more for an overdrive pedal or any pedal. I still need and will keep using 2 other OD pedals that have other characteristics (I mention this to point out that it may not cover the full-range of OD sounds you might want- but to me, this 100% ok and to be expected- not a flaw. Your opinion may vary as pedal sounds are very much a user taste/opinion thing.)

If you are after the creamy Hendrix studio album version sound of "Wind Cries Mary", this pedal will get you pretty close (at least with a tube amp). IMO, this is a pedal for maximum blues on clean.Overall sound: creamy, thick, with a variable mid voice that goes from dark to bright.OD channel on amp: Even with very little gain, this will add thick mid-rangy boost.This is more heavy handed than a Tube Screamer. It's wonderfully subtle with the gain 7:00 and 8:00.
