I must not have read close enough I bought this to put on my lathe but when it showed up it was so comically small you could use it in a drill or a drill press I don't know why you would ever want to put a Chuck in a chuck. Besides being totally useless for what I purchased it for it seems to be fairly well built

I guess I should have read a little bit better. That being said, The 4 jaw was it a little more expensive so I thought it would be better. But it wasn't the 3 jaw unit has Self-Centering with a dial on the back of the jaw. Unfortunately the unit with four jaws does not have this feature and really makes it much less useful and should be half the price. Anyone looking to buy one of these? Do yourself a favor and get the one with three jaws. You'll thank me later. Happy holidays!

jaws are VERY sloppy and made of aluminum or pot metalthe adjusting screws for the jaws are almost falling out. This chuck wouldn't last a week under use, if you could even get it aligned.

This is meant to attach to an electric drill chuck, which it does it can hold for example, an aluminum tube an inch in diameter. If the tube is less than an inch long, one can use a lathe tool to machine the end of the tube if the tube is much longer than an inch, there is too much wobble to actually machine the bottom of the tube. The tube would need a centering device from below.
