As other mention, they do make a high pitched squealing sound. I think all el stuff does though. My real compliment is the brightness. I expected much more. I may just go with led light clusters to get better brightness. But I can see their use and they are as described.

We ordered this to serve as a prank for anyone passing by our land at night. We're out in the country, and much of our land is obscured from the highway by trees and bushes. I read an idea for a fun "glowing eye" prank years ago that involved using glow sticks and construction paper. But the problem was that the glow sticks only have so much life in them. Once their dead, they're dead. But this was a great alternative in that the lights remain on, always bright, and you can simply swap out the batteries when the time comes that you need to.Setting it up is a breeze, it's easy enough that you don't even need instructions. Slide off the battery case to insert your two AA batteries (thankfully you don't have to unscrew the cover like you have to with so many other electronic devices). The cable runs to a splitter that allows you to plug in each "eye" light individually to the main power source cord.Once you turn it on with the push of a button, you'll notice that the light is extremely bright and vivid (at least it is with the red light model that we ordered). You can toggle between three light settings in all. Solid light, slow blink, quick blink. For our needs, we just kept it on the solid light that doesn't change. If you don't want to actually cut the "eyes" themselves, you can just use black construction paper with holes cut to represent the eyes, and just tape the lights behind that.Lots of great possibilities with this one, although we're going to stick to just pranking people with it. I would most likely order more of these from the same brand in the future.

I got this because I want to modify a stuffed animal to have red glowing eyes so I can scare my son with it... or hide it in my wifes closet for a joke.This is really neat. It's easy to put together and get working. It runs on AA batteries (not included). Each "eye" is on it's own individual wire which can be connected to a Y splitter cable and then connect the Y splitter cable into the main device component with the batteries and on/off switch.The cables have a two-pin connector if I recall correctly. I'm wondering If I'd be able to connect this to a raspberry pi or arduino or something along with a motion sensor, so I could have the eyes light up when it detects motion... that would be fun. I guess I have a little project on my hands now.

Easy to assemble. Decently bright. Required 2 AA batteries. High pitch whine when turned on. Really upset about receiving different shades of red :/I don't think these were worth 26 dollars.
