Many may have an RV where they can have solar panels help charge batteries etc while camping, yet you may not be able to park in the perfect spot for good sun from roof mounted panels. I'll be using this to add a connection off the RV and place a portable panel (or 2) where they can get the ideal sun/power. The rubber cover will keep it closed off during road travel, but it can handle over 30 amps for good connections when wanted. The Anderson style are easy to connect, yet won't come off from an accidental slight pull (like SAE and lighter plugs have done for me). These also are very clear on polarity with color codes (while SAE often needs reversal devices). I may get another to have one for power input to the batteries, another for power output from the batteries.

Good overall, with two watchouts.On the plus side, this unit seems reasonably well-built, with a nice fit and finish and good rubber seals for the cover and the pass-through/mounting.Regarding watch-outs:1. The material doesn't feel as quality-made as some other, albeit more expensive, Anderson connectors I have. For the price, it seems fine, but I would see if/how you can protect this from intense sun.2. Notice that the receiver Anderson connectors are in a side-by-side configuration rather than an over-under configuration like some setups such as Goal Zero. You should be able to pull back the cover of your Anderson plug with an over-under configuration and slide each connector apart and back together in a side-by-side configuration. That is important since it doesn't appear you can reconfigure the orientation of the plugs on this receiver. You should consider whether your plug needs to switch between an over-under configuration and a side-by-side configuration easily.

Ham radio folks—QRP, ARES/RACES guys—you’re already familiar with Anderson Powerpoles and how they work. Bet you wished someone made a nice panel-mount frame for the standard two-terminal, ARES/RACES-compliant, Anderson DC power connection, right? Well, this offering from JacEnergy is a potential candidate for the job.The frame has a round, threaded body and comes with a matching plastic nut. bore a hole in your instrument panel, dash, battery box, or what-have-you, insert the frame, spin on the nut, and you’re done. JacEnergy includes an O-ring to load behind the face flange. It will offer some moisture-resistance and provide helpful friction to keep the fixture from spinning around in its mounting hole.The front side is covered with a removable, soft, rubber-like, cap. I wouldn’t classify this as “waterproof,” but the cap certainly adds a useful degree of water resistance.Set into the frame are red and black 45-AMP Anderson Powerpole look-alike shells. The kit includes the shells in the frame, two extra shells to mate to the frame, four contacts, and insulating “boots”. Despite the seller’s claims to the contrary, I don’t think you can fit 10 AWG into the supplied contacts. I strongly suspect 12 AWG is the best you can do.I can’t say for certain that the connector parts are genuine Anderson; I’ve run into quite a few import clones. If not, they’re well-made enough to suit their purpose.

I have a couple of projects where I need to bring power into a box. Anderson Powerpole connectors are a good option for this. This mounts cleanly in the box and has a rubber gasket to help keep out water. There is a rubber boot that goes over the outside of the connector which help keep light spray out, but its not watertight if you inadvertently need to submerge the connector.
