This is an incredibly thoughtfully and well-designed product. In over 20 years doing semi-professional audio recording I have dealt with many types of mic stands and holders - all of them have been flimsier than this. Part of how this is enabled is the thick metal arm (great) but also there's an allen screw at the "elbow" joint which can be used to tighten/reduce the tension; some folks could be understandably frustrated that you need to have a separate tool to fully use this product but you really do not need to use it at all, the way it comes is sufficiently tight and stays in place (but if you use the allen wrench you can get it even tighter which allows this product to hold even a heavy tablet or microphone without risk of movement).

I just replaced my spring mic arm with this one. The arm comes with screw adapters to fit different screw sizes. it does come with a plastic standard mic holder and a phone holder as well. Outside of the screw adapters, the phone holder and mic holder are cheaper plastic and don't match the quality of the mic arm itself. When I first extended the arm, I found it very tight, so I loosened the bolts with the included Allen wrench. Only to find out I would need to re-tighten them. The clamp used to mount to a table has rubber backings to help secure the mount and protect the desk. Once clamped on, it was very secure and it needs to be. A lot of pressure is placed on the mount. Once I attached the mic and secured the cables via the cable track and Velcro straps I found I needed to tighten the arm pivot bolts fairly tight to keep the arm steady. After all was adjusted, I'm now able to move the arm back and forth and it holds it's position. It does take some pressure to move around but easy enough. This mic arm looks so much better, more of a professional look and holds the mic much better than the spring type arms. Now that I have everything adjusted to the way I want, I need to flip the arm around so the cover shows instead of the tightening bolts. Easy fix. I did this for ease of adjustment until I had it where I wanted it. I don't plan on changing the mic much so I don't have an issue with the adjustments. I can truly say this arm looks so much better and is rock solid. The ball joint at the end where the mic mounts allows for fine adjustments to mic position and is easy to adjust. Overall I'm very happy with both the functionality and looks of this mic arm. Lastly, the way this arm mounts and adjust, I've gained a couple of needed inches. Although I don't like the cheap standard mic holder or the phone holders quality, the main mic arm holding my type of mic is great and I've pleased with it. A step up in looks and performance.

I've been using this boom arm at my hobby table to hold a ring light while I'm painting models. By using one of the included adapters, compatibility hasn't been an issue, and the arm holds my light steady and in position without any problems whatsoever. The way the arm slots into the c-clamp means that it can be left loose to swivel smoothly, allowing me to quickly pivot my light source out of the way when I don't need it. The other joints are considerably stiffer if you don't loosen them with the included Allen key, but in my case that's a positive because I feel less worried about a joint coming loose and potentially falling on something I'm working on.The build quality is excellent, and everything feels solid. The only thing that really holds it back from being perfect in my book is its solution for cable management, which consists of a pair of grooves folded into the top and bottom of the arm to run your cable along. There are a bunch of Velcro strips included that help keep those cables relatively snug in those channels, but if there are any kinks or bends in the wire, it's probably going to protrude a little bit. Even when the wires are perfectly smooth, it still looks a bit messy.Overall, I'm very happy with this arm, and I will definitely be using it regularly as a task lamp while it's combined with my light. I did try it out with a microphone briefly, but it seemed to work about as well for that task without any real quirks or caveats. If you're looking for a mic arm that you want to keep in the same position over a longer period of time, I think this is a great product! However, if you know that you'll probably want to make regular adjustments after it was initially set up, I might recommend looking for a model with twist knobs on its joints, as hunting for an Allen key might get a bit tedious after a while.

Writing this after having it for a few weeks now. Got this for my AT2020 microphone, and it's one of the easiest to use boom arms I've ever set up. Perfectly holds the weight of my mic, easily gets out of the way when I need it to, and is incredibly solid construction wise. One problem I had with my last boom arm was how creaky it was when I'd move it around, which would pick up on the mic and annoy whoever I was talking to. This one's really quiet in that regard. No noticeable sag, no deterioration over time, and the included cable management things are not only easy to use but have held even after extended use.My ONE problem with this product is that you have to use the little wrench to loosen and tighten certain parts of it, so you basically have to get it perfect unless you want to wrench your mic arm constantly to adjust height and give. Not a dealbreaker but an annoying design choice. A twist knob probably would've been better, but they commonly fail on cheaper boom arms, so at the very least it removes one common point of failure. Great product otherwise.
