The base is too big, the arm of the boom is also too thick as well it also does not fit my desk due to the base piece being so large, calling this low profile is kind of misleading almost considering how thick it is. Its also kind of unstable and constantly swivels by it self.

This Halostand microphone boom arm is a nice-looking low profile microphone arm that is significantly less expensive than those from the big brands like Elgato and Rode. At less than $30, it almost seems too good to be true until you realize there are some big differences in how they are built and how they work. This mic arm is made of mostly metal and has a nice matte finish that looks a little premium. It mounts to your desk similarly to any of them, and once tightened is very secure. The height of the first section is fixed, it can't adjust up at all and is just over 2" from the desk top. Since it doesn't adjust at all, this can be a problem if you have anything else at all on your desk - I have a laptop stand and desk phone that I have to move out of the way if I need to adjust the monitor arm at all. The 2nd section IS adjustable via a pivot point but you have to unscrew and tighten down every single time you want to adjust it, it doesn't have pneumatic or spring based adjustment it locks in place and is what it is. The end that connects to your mic seems well made and is mostly made of metal except the handle to tighten the little ball head that holds the mic. You do have to tighten it pretty hard when you have a mic on there and I worry about how long the plastic parts will last. They've done okay so far. Overall, if you are on a budget and can't afford $75-100, this is a great low-profile mic arm for the price. If you have the money you might want to consider splurging though... the limitations on a budget mic arm can get frustrating especially if you use it or adjust it often.

Even though I haven't needed to yet, it comes with a hex wrench to tighten the main boom joint - in case you've got a really heavy microphone, I guess.Clamps firmly over the desk edge, moves pretty smoothly and holds my mic up just fine. It has a textured, matte paint finish, feels solid and look fairly professional. I likes it!

This boom arm is so much better than my Generic one I got from TEMU.This one has way more movement up and down and side to side.It has the right size threads for my Mic holder.I think the only problem I'd have with it, is if I want to push it up and away, I'd have to unscrew the wing nut on teh back part of the arm to lift it up and because it's not spring loaded I have to set the position I want it to be and lock it in place with the screw, as this is Ok it could be a problem later. But this sure bears the up and down spring loaded but no swivel to the left or right like this boom arm. This is an upgrade from my previous one.Highly recommended.
