I have owned a branded and significantly more expensive set of tweezers in this style for many years and keep it in my hiking first aid kit. The pointy jaws are perfect for removing slivers in addition to ticks. This product is functionally the same and I have no doubt it will get the job done, but is obviously lower quality in a few ways listed here:The pointy bits are not as pointy as more expensive version out of the box. They are pointy -enough- and can easily be touched up on a stone if desired, which leads me to my next observation:The metal used is noticeably softer. You shouldn't be using these or any tweezers as a screwdriver or a mini crowbar anyway, but I suggest keeping the little piece of tubing that come with them to protect the tips while in storage as they bend very easily.5 stars despite these complaints since these were cheap and will get the job done.
