These are definitely for sun protection and not warmth. They are very thin, stretchy and comfortable. They seem to stay in place due to the silicone elastic strip.I ordered a Medium. For size context, I am 5'3". I have on both, the knee sleeve on one leg, and full leg sleeve on the other so you can see the difference. They are more of a premium price and the quality feels that way.I plan on washing in Active Wear cycle and air drying. If anything comes up with durability, I will update this review. If no update, you can assume it is sufficient, I am still happy with them and would recommend them if you are okay with the premium price.

I wish they had a size guide. As a 5’8” 145lb woman who lifts weights, runs, and bikes recreationally, I wagered that XL was my best bet. My left thigh is 22.5” (~57cm) and my right is 23.5” (~59cm) in circumference. Both legs experienced “muffin topping” (or, the band cut into my thigh tissue rather considerably) when wearing the XL sleeves but when wearing either sleeve on my right leg, it simply would not stay up. The elastic band would roll over on itself like it was too tight and then the sleeve would fall down. Despite the tight fit at the top of my thighs, the sleeves had no feeling of supporting snugness (not compression since these aren’t a compression product) through the rest of my legs. I’m not sure if I sized something incorrectly, but based on the limited fit info in the product listing, these primarily rely on the thigh band to stay put.I usually like to suggest fit recommendations in my apparel reviews but I don’t know how to steer (ha) anyone to the right fit with these, other than it potentially favors people with less lifesaving thighs. My femurs are long and my quads are proportionally slim to my thighs, so it’s entirely possible half of my body dimensions just aren’t meant for these sleeves. The length was good for my long legs but again there’s no indication that sizing affects the length of the product. The sleeves are well made (in Italy) and look and feel worth the cost. The grip was very good on my left thigh, with the grip surface on the band being very flat and comfortable (despite the aforementioned muffin topping) and holding fast throughout a range of movements including biking. The white is attractive but impractical, I managed to smudge mine promptly after getting outside. It certainly helped with feeling cooler in the sun and it’s always nice to feel a little freed from applying sunscreen.Overall, I would recommend these, but on the stipulation that you be prepared to trial and return for size. Hopefully others have a better fit experience than me.

I'm an avid cyclist (road, mainly) and am no stranger to Castelli's cycling kit--I own a number of their bib shorts, jerseys, jackets, vests and base layers. However, I have not tried their sun sleeves prior to ordering these. While you could call these leg warmers, the material is a very thin, breathable lycra that is really more suited to shielding you from the sun than keeping your legs warm. I suppose they could cut a little bit of the chill when you're starting out in the morning but expecting it to warm up quickly, but I can't see using these as leg warmers in temps below the mid to upper 50s unless there's blazing sun to give an assist. That said, these are very nice sun leg sleeves. The fabric is very nice--silky smooth and soft with plenty of stretch (but note, the fabric is not heavy duty, so be careful about situations that could snag or abrade it)-- and the construction is also very good. Castelli doesn't really do a great job of providing sizing guidance for these leg sleeves, which is really disappointing. They could at least give some basic dimensions like thigh circumference, inseam, etc. to help you figure it out. I'm 5'10", 150 lbs with a 31" inseam with more of my weight in my legs than upper body; I typically wear a size large in Castelli's bib shorts because of my legs. So, I figured I would order the large in these sleeves and that worked out pretty well. The fit is snug but not overly tight. The length is good in the sense that these reach more or less from my upper thigh down to my ankles, though I would say that they're actually a little longer than I need because they don't really need to to all the way up to my upper thigh and all the way down to my ankles because I tend to ride with longer socks. So, I could see these fitting someone that has a 33-34, maybe even 35" inseam just fine with the stretch in the fabric.Overall, these are very nice, consistent with the quality of material and construction that I'd expect from a top brand like Castelli. They aren't inexpensive, but I can see them being a nice part of your summer cycling kit. I can't vouch for how they'll hold up to repeated use and washing, but will update my review if they don't hold up the way they should.

These are a nice addition for cooler weather rides, but not warmers, so it's not going to protect you from chilling air. I was a bit worried about the grippers at the top of the leg, but once I put on my bib it stayed in place - no rolling down or at the cuff, rolling up. As expected, light protection for cool weather, but very comfortable even when the sun rose, didn't even feel like I had them on. Pic is on one leg, true to size - so know it's supposed to be skin tight!
