Our dog dynamics were recently turned upside down when my daughter moved home with her 1 year old shepherd mix. Our dogs, who never barked excessively, began barking competitively. We have only been using the collar while we are home, but it has been a game changer. The vibration alone didn't do much to interrupt the barking or hold their attention for more than a second, but the spray made a big difference. The dogs have worn the collars while running through the sprinklers with no problems to the device. The instructions were easy to follow and the remote is intuitively laid out making it easy to use by feel.

If you are on the fence about this, I'd say try it!! So much to gain, and not much to lose. I have a German Shepherd who is wonderful in every way *except* that she barked too much at everything outside in the yard, so I had to keep her inside far more than she likes so her barking doesn't irritate the neighbors. I tried other training methods with her, but nothing else really helped, because it all depended on me being right there to stop her, and she knew that if I wasn't in arm's reach then she didn't really have to stop barking. This tool changed that mindset in a single day, without any pain!I just waited until the third bark at something I don't want her to bark at (e.g. the neighbor's dogs on the other side of the fence, or a neighbor in their yard), then hit the spray button. It confused her and disrupted the behavior, but she didn't seem scared or hurt in any way. I did that consistently for a few hours off and on during the day, and she quickly learned that a bark or two to alert or say hi was fine (I don't want her to think she can't talk at all), but persistent barking at pointless things will get her a squirt. Importantly, I never said "no" or anything before I sprayed, since I didn't want to be forced to keep yelling at her all day--the goal is for her to make better choices on her own--AND I never sprayed her when she was barking at something real, like a stranger coming to our door, because I didn't want to discourage that behavior. She got the point very quickly (after all, I've spent a couple years telling her no or calling her inside when she barks at the same neighbor she sees every single day, so she knows who I *don't* want her to bark at), and now she sits and watches the neighbors quietly rather than running up to the fence and harassing them. The battery life seems great on this--it can go for days and days without needing a recharge--and I haven't had to refill the citronella yet. I haven't measured to see exactly how far away the receiver works, but I am skeptical that it would really work at the 330 yards it claims. I have tried it at about 20 yards, and it seems to work at that distance. ALSO, if my dog is outside near the house, I'm actually able to trigger the spray from inside the house, which is pretty impressive considering we have thick brick walls. I will say that the spray smelled kind of funky at first--like it had a slightly fishy odor in addition to the citronella scent, which I was worried about--but it seems to have faded after the first few sprays, so it hasn't been a problem. After that first day of focused training, I only had to use the spray once or twice in the following days as a reminder, and after that I wasn't using it much at all. I do think she will need periodic refreshers so she doesn't fall into her old habits again, but the barking problem that caused me so much stress and irritation is about 90% better now, with such a quick and easy fix! I love that this isn't a shock collar, and it isn't meant to cause pain or fear--it just disrupts the unwanted behavior with a cue that is hard for the dog to ignore.

The collar is a pretty small bundle, with a lot going on - that alone is impressive. However, the chemical part of this collar doesn't seem to work well with my dog. I had a little worry about it from the beginning, but figured I would attempt it anyways. We have a young Australian Shepherd who likes to be a puppy at times. I strapped the collar on, and waited for the first sock to pop up in her mouth - wham - hit the button and watched it spray her. I will admit, it was extremely satisfying to watch, but it was not well taken. My pup immediately ran under the bed shaking. It took a few hours for her to come back around. It might work with other dogs, but not for this one. Now, the main issues I have with it. The chemical the collar is a little concerning. I have no clue what is in this stuff - it doesn't smell like it's anything good. It is a lot like a butane lighter refill can. I also had issues filling the collar - t sprays all over the place. It also leaves a funky white residue behind. Overall - thanks, but no thanks. I also worry about having a pressurized vessel installed on my dogs neck. We have three dogs, and they like to wrestle and play. I worry one of them might bite it and cause it to explode. If you have ever watched a butane lighter explored under pressure, you know what I am talking about. As for the product - it works, and it has a decent starter package. Instructions are a little wonky, but you can figure it out. Not sure about the durability of it, since I retired it after an hour.

I love this collar. Finally the Chihuahua/terrier mix isn't barking incessantly! I started with beep and vibration but at first we really needed the spray feature a lot. Now a beep is enough to stop him because he knows the spray comes after. So easy to use and refill, and it's a perfect training aid. The battery lasts about a week before it needs charging and that's with daily use. I only put it on him when we are home and watching him, but it seems very durable.
