The drill bit came in the mail exactly as pictured.I used this drill bit with my DEWALT drill and it fit perfect and it held onto the drill bit with no problem.I was originally worried that it may not hold because the end of the drill bit looks a bit round in shape but it still worked fine with my DEWALT drill.I can't speak for how well the drill bit works to drill holes. I used the drill bit to expand a hole.IF you're a photographer and you have a studio strobe that has a umbrella hole that is slightly smaller than 5/16"....(5/16" seems to be a more standard size). You can try what i did. I bought that size drill bit and i put it through the umbrella hole to expand the size of the hole and now my photography umbrellas go through the hole. (And nothing broke)So the drill bit was used to cut some hard plastic to expand the hole. It worked great and very fast.The reason why i bought this VERY LONG drill bit was because my studio strobe light umbrella hole is too far for me to to reach with a smaller drill bit. But this long drill fixed that problem.Only issue is, from what little testing i did. My studio strobe's design hold the umbrella shaft using friction. So now the 5/16" umbrellas are a little looser going in the hole and for adjusting (Mainly when i aim the studio strobe at an extreme angle). But it was either that or buy new expensive studio strobes just so i could fit studio umbrellas.May need to install something on the umbrella shaft (rod) to hold & adjust the umbrella in place when using angles that may cause it to move too much.Overall i'm happy with my purchase and what i was able to do with it.After i used the drill bit to achieve my goal, the drill bit still looks in good condition.

Straight and sharp. Did the trick for drilling though the long side of 2x6s for mounting through bolts.

Much better than the Harbor Freight brand. Higher quality steel, cuts faster and more precise. Worth the extra money.

Drilled as good as any other drill bit, went right through 14 ga metal. But, I only had to drill 1 hole. Its a bit you don't need often but will solve big problems & headaches if you like to build & work on things. Make a thoughtful gift for the men in your life who like to work for fun.
