I WOULD JUMP RIGHT TO 240 OR 320 GRIT. THE CLEAR COAT FINISH WAS NOT ADEQUATE. IT MAYBE OK WITH A METAL BRUSH ON PAINT.

These flap discs worked okay but didn’t seem to hold up as well as some of my other discs. The 40 grit made short time or removing slag off a metal plate but showed considerable wear. The other discs held up about the same, not bad but not the best I have used either. Having said that, these aren’t bad for the price you pay. Okay for the home workshop.

Compared to EZARC or Diablo or 3M flap discs, these are low quality. These are thin (only approx 6.6mm thick), as shown in photo. The name brand discs, mentioned above, often have 2X the flapping surface thickness, sometimes 3X the flapping material. These discs are cheap price and VERY THIN. You will use a LOT of these to make up for how long 1 of the name-brand discs will last. If you are OK with that, then more power to you. I haven't done a side-by-side comparison with the name brand discs, but my rough estimate is that you will need probably at least 7 of these to equal the life on 1 quality disc. Possibly as many as 10 of these. It's just no comparison. So at the end of the day, you are not saving money with these discs.
