I purchased this on recommendation of my trainer. We've used for 6 months, its performed exactly as advertised...not a single problem with the unit! Our trainer suggested using a timer to charge for 2 hr every night so as not to overcharge. Our dog wears it 14 -15 hr every day, we've never had issues with battery losing charge. The level/intensity of signals is easily and quickly adjustable. Hand remote is lightweight and comfortable to hold. Pretty straightforward to operate although I would definitely recommend help from a professional trainer (both dog and it's human). I found my pup had (and has) several nuances when it comes to learning the ropes of manners and commands, I would have been totally lost without help from the pro. Just saying

I purchased the Dogtra 200 NCPT E Collar for my service dog in training, twice. Neither collar worked. On both collars sent to me, the original and replacement, the Nick and Continuous functions that are supposed to deliver a shock, didn't do anything. Only the Pager and Tone buttons worked. Yes, I know how to use the collar and followed the instructions to the T. I even tested it on my wife and nothing. I wouldn't recommend this collar as Dogtra appears to have some technical issues with either the receiver or transmitter.

This was actually purchased as a last resort option for my dog. I didn’t know when I adopted him from a private party that he was a biter. Not of his family members - which includes three humans and two small dogs. He’s great with us. But he’s overly protective and has bitten two of my friends, unprovoked. I began working with a trainer who is the kindest person I know and has many, many pets including a small goat and a goose which she takes everywhere. She recommended this product and uses it when her dogs are off leash on the beach and she wants them to return to her. Under her guidance, I’ve been working with my dog and the collar for two weeks. It wasn’t very long before I began to predominantly use the beeping setting to get him to respond quickly to me. We live on a large property so that was important. My goal is not for him to become the friendliest dog in town but to be able to have people over without the fear of getting bit. We’re not there yet but I’ve seen changes already. I never thought I would use an e-collar - I’ve had dogs all my life but never one like this. He’s very strong and stubborn and protective. I wish I had known more about him before adopting but he’s a wonderful dog in all other areas so I’m going to continue training with this collar. The collar and receiver are easy to charge and use and comes with comprehensive and easy to understand and instructions. I hope anyone making this purchase familiarizes themself with the instructions completely before using. It would be easy to abuse and that scares me some but if you’re a responsible and caring human being, I would recommend this product.P.S. rather than continuing to use the lanyard it came with, I bought a crossbody phone cord thing to hang it from. The neck lanyard was uncomfortable and kept banging into everything.

I purchased a Dogtra 200 “Just Right” from GunDog Supply (an awesome company I recommend over any other) that had some great features including tone and low, medium and high stim settings within each level. Unfortunately it did not have a lock feature for the stim. I noticed right away that it was prone to change when putting it in my pocket. I was able to exchange it and immediately ordered this one. (My original first choice but went with the other for the variable stim at touch of a button.). My Lagotto is SUPER SENSITIVE to both the stim and tone. The lowest levels are imperceptible to my touch (up to 20) but grab his attention immediately. I’m using the stim as a positive “tap on the shoulder” when he’s out of leash range or off leash to direct his attention back to me. He responds so much quicker and with less pressure than slip lead. I’m using tone for reinforcing “no” “leave it” or “off”. No more counter surfing, no more greeting people with two paws up on them, and no more eating his own poop!!! He actually responded by coming to me at t he tone. YOU MUST MAKE SURE YOUR DOG KNOWS HIS COMMANDS BEFORE USING E-COLLAR TO REINFORCE A BEHAVIOR. If Dogtra is listening please make an e collar the end user can program the buttons for their best use and practice. This one has nick stim and constant at the same level would be great with a boost feature like the “no bad dogs” version. Since the lock limits the speed at which you could turn up the stim if needed. The 280c and 280 “no bad dogs” unit has great features but lacks tone which for people with electric in ground fences is great because the dog already knows this to be a warning. The product is well built, holds a charge, and is comfortable in hand. Vibration is powerful and I haven’t used it yet. Not sure how my dog will respond. It is stronger than a low level stim so I’m not sure I’ll use it at all.

I really loved this item. It was a lifesaver when I was off leash recall training my hound as there are no enclosed dog parks where I live. Unfortunately after a little over a year the buttons stopped working, even after charging. With a nearly $200 price tag. I’d expect the product to last longer before breaking.
