Works well with getting rid of cigarette smell however the ozone itself gives off a smell that is irritating but the smell will eventually go away.

I love this ozone air cleaner. We have a teenage boy (I can probably stop the review right there). He uses the basement area to play his VR games and so he moves a good bit which generate some not so pleasant scents in the basement. It's gotten to where nobody except him will go down there. I have uses this to clean it out and it's like a new room, simply amazing.The device is small but powerful It's simply to use. Just plug it in, set the time and leave. We do the basement in 30 minute spurts to be sure and not overdo. I generally run it when we are going to be gone for half the day to allow plenty of time for it clean and fully dissipate.As others have said, it's confusing that the instructions say to run it an hour max, but the timer settings go up to 2hours plus the option to leave it on. I won't mess with running it more than and hour and like I mentioned, 30mins most of the time.I just wish I'd had this in the past when we've needed to rent cars and would get a car that reeked of smoke and no other cars available to trade. This would have been really useful because the sprays the rental places would use didn't fix it and added new smells that I didn't like.

This ozone generator does exactly what it's supposed to do! I left it running for an hour in my 1200 sq ft basement hoping to remove the exhaust smell from a malfunctioning oil furnace (since replaced by a propane powered unit). It did in fact remove the odor.The literature in two places says to not leave the unit running for more than 1 hour. Strange though that the timer on the unit goes up to 2 hours (the Amazon ad copy says you can set the timer to 2 hours). You can also totally bypass the timer, and just leave the unit on Hold, which is constant on, so I'm a little confused as to why the manufacturer gives that admonition to do an hour or less.I also wish there was something in the instructions giving some sort of details as to how to clean the unit. My understanding is that corona discharge machines need cleaning after a few cycles to keep everything working properly. I guess I'll have to check with my "best friend" YouTube to see if I can find some cleaning instructions.As others have stated, the amount of ozone that this device generates can be dangerous to your health. So set the unit, leave the area, and close the doors behind you. Ozone will dissipate over a period of hours by itself. Otherwise, when returning to the area you just treated, hold your breath while entering so as to not breath in any non-reacted ozone, and ventilate the area by opening some windows/doors to fresh air. Don't forget to breathe afterwards :)One other thing to remember is that ozone will react with many, many substances, including plastics, rubber, plants, electrical wire coatings, fabrics, artwork, and a whole host of other items... So with ozone, more is NOT always better! You can actually create other odors from the ozone degrading the molecular structure of these items. I'd suggest using the ozone generator in shorter spurts, and then assess the room for odor. You can always treat the area again if it's needed. This is better than nuking the area with the machine set on HOLD (continuous), and possibly causing more odiferous grief :)

This little unit has worked great for me so far in removing stale, musty odors from the home. I have not tried it in a vehicle yet, but I bet it will do well. Not a lot to fuss with as far as setup and controls - just a power switch on the back and a timer/control knob on the front. Figure out how many square feet you want to treat, set the timer according to the chart, leave the room, and let it work. Ventilate well after the ozonating process is done. Your offensive smell will be replaced by a cleaner, fresher smell and (if you've ventilated properly) a very rainy smell of ozone.I've found this ozone generator to be very easy to use and effective. Also low maintenance. But be aware that breathing ozone is not good for you. There is an included sign to hang on doorknobs of treated rooms. As soon as you turn it on, get away and keep other people and pets away from the treated area. Once the timer cycle has completed, you can air the room out a bit, and everything will be fine. Ozone breaks down pretty quickly. I like it because it is a rather natural method of disinfection and odor removal. It doesn't use any chemicals or leave anything harmful once the ozone breaks down unlike chemical sprays or cover ups.A couple of other things worth mentioning: the timer chart only goes up to an hour (for 500 sq ft), but the timer can be set for 120 minutes. There is a "continuous" mode on the dial where the unit does not shut off. I don't think I would recommend running it in this mode since (a) it doesn't automatically shut off, and the unit might overheat, and (b) you have to enter the ozonated space with the unit running in order to shut it off.All in all, I really like this ozone generator. It has done a great job so far in eliminating odors in my home and has been very easy to use. It even got rid of the lingering stale smoke smell out of my son's room (not even shampooing and deep cleaning and several bottles of odor removers were able to do that). Five stars.
