For less than half the price of a aputure set of lights, these get the job done and I’ve used them side by side on set with aputure and you really can’t tell a quality difference in light output.

We purchased two of these lamps to use in our video production studio to include in our DMX configuration. We purchased the correct additional cable to connect to our DMX system but were shocked to find out that there was no way to view or set the DMX address for these lamps. Went back and forth with GVM support for over 2 weeks only to be told about the 12 channels (not address) multiple times. We even shared with them the information we were looking for with one of their similar products and their support still couldn't figure it out.It seems that if you want DMX control this would have to be the lone light on the dmx controller. If you want 2 or more, or like us, include it in your DMX lighting setup (with many other lights, pars, etc.) you are out of luck. I hope this helps someone like us in the future looking for lighting. We are now in the process of trying to return these units.I will say, if you are looking for a stand alone light with controls that you can access over an app on your phone. This light is just fine.

I have all GVM products for my lighting, I love the SD200R. The white light stopped working in the LED after a few months. I contacted GVM support and they sent me a replacement very quickly including a return shipping package and label! I love GVM and how they help creators!

Overview:Overall, this seems like a very well made light. While I have not measured the light output, it is very bright when set to output white light. The quality of the light is also pleasing. The controls are easy to use provided that the light is within reach.Controls:All of the controls for light intensity, light color, etc are available on the back of the light. There are two buttons and a multifunction dial. There is also a LED screen that provides light intensity, light color, and other information. You can easily dial in exactly the intensity and color you want. There is NO NEED for the iPhone app.iPhone App and Main Flaw:However, the iPhone app now requires that you create an account on the internet in order to use it. I don't want to do that, so I am using the light without the iPhone app. I consider this a fairly minor flaw, but I would prefer if the app did not require a login in order to use it.

This RGB / Bi-Color 200W light is fantastic.Working with it:I spent an entire 10 hour day working with this light on a real set and I can tell you I was impressed. I was able to walk away from this light and control it via app which made my day a breeze! On top of owning the 300W Bi-Color version of this light, the added RGB element to the fixture gave me so many more opportunities to create new looks in camera.Build Quality:This light housing is a mixture of plastic and metal to keep the light both cool and light weight. The packaging it comes in is a nice material that stores the light and accessories nice and padded. The only thing that doesn't fit in the soft padded case is the light stand which could be tied to the case if really needed. The yoke is solid and feels sturdy to keep the light in place whether you're on a stand or mounted to a grid. The reflector is your normal solid quality of bowens-mount reflectors. The power cable is nice and flexible so you don't have to worry about the cable being too think to wrangle. The soft-box was simple to build and the added diffusion and grid really brought some nice perks to it. The front LED's do get hot as this thing does put out 200W of light, but you could live with it at full power and not feel too much heat radiating from it.Pros:RGB + Bi-Color is a dream. You really get SO much out of this light. Plus the ability to use the light with their app! The added effects are an awesome touch that gives the light so many purposes. The quality of cable for power is really nice and never got coiled up weird or anything. Just nice and flexible. On top of this, 200W goes a long way. I didnt realize how bright this guy would get until I had it next to a comparable light. (it was a little less powerful than a 300x, that is all brushed off with the added perks of the RGB and effect lighting.If you're in need of DMX lighting for stages or sets, this thing has you covered too! Makes working with a bunch of these a breeze.Cons:I really enjoy this light, but the teeth that keep that light secured to the yoke are a little tedious with needing to adjust the light to various positions on the fly. You have to loosen both knobs in order to move the light. This isn't a huge deal breaker, but it's something I noticed while constantly adjusting the fixture. I ended up only tightening one side most of the day.Excited to add this multi-functional light to my arsenal!
