Bought this to help with prototype work on circuit boards although it can be used for microscopic work too. For microscopic work, it takes a little getting used to to focus that close up and it you have to have steady table or the picture will wiggle with the slightest movement. That doesn't bother me at all for electronics work. Two of the three lenses that it comes with work really well for this and the third is only good for the microscopic work along with the included slide holder. The 12mm to 320mm and 90mm to 300mm lenses (object distance)both are good for electronics work because of the longer focal distance. I can get under them quite easily with my hands and soldering equipment. It also has a 3x digital zoom if you don't want to move anything and see something closer temporarily. I have not tried the PC software that you can download. It has a remote control too. It does comes with a flash memory card even though the instruction sheet states that it doesn't. It takes digital photos and high res videos. The box was well packaged. My only upgrade wish is that it would be nice if the LED lights could be turned completely off. I haven't found a way to do that. The intensity can be turned up and down some, but not completely off without unplugging them. To me this unit is well worth the price to save my poor 63-year-old eyes while I work on smaller and smaller parts!

As I've gotten older, it's harder to work on electronic circuitry, and compounding the problem is that everything has gotten smaller. Working on point-to-point tube circuits with a soldering gun has yielded to through-hole board mounted solid state electronics with a temperature controlled soldering iron. The current generation of surface mount electronics has me using a hot air soldering station... when I can see what I'm working on.Articulated arm magnifying glasses aren't any help as they don't have sufficient magnification and don't stay in place. The JL249MS Plus 10.1'' HDMI Digital Microscope completely allieviates these problems. This is more than a digital microscope. It's a complete workstation that includes spring loaded clips to hold things in place, and lights which can be aimed precisely at the work area. Both of those are on flexible arms that are easily adjusted and hold in place firmly. An arm for holding tools is part of the package, and it's attached to the main column. It's a great place for a spool of solder, and a few small hand tools to keep them convenient. A heat resistant soldering mat is included for the base, and a three-piece base extension locks together to expand the work area and gives you a place to keep components or more tools.3 lenses afford different levels of magnification so you can use the microscope for a lot more than circuit board work. They provide a combined range of 60-2040x magnification. The camera and viewer sit on a 13" high support and can be adjusted in all three dimensions. There is enough space to see the image of an entire large circuit board. If the 10.1" HDMI LCD display isn't enough, you can run video from an HDMI port or USB in 2K resolution to another monitor or a computer. A remote control is included to allow you to take photos and videos and store them locally on a memory card.. You can zoom in and out, and rotate the image, without touching the microscope assembly, thus avoiding moving the focus of the lens as even a slight vibration would. The images are clear and crisp, and magnification is great, allowing me to work successfully on circuits that I couldn't touch before without a lot of eye strain, manipulation, and squinting. The 24 megapixel sensor gives great resolution. The only criticism I have is that the screws to lock things in place are a little flimsy. You need to lock things tight so they don't move and some of the screws are plastic all the way and I'm concerned about the longevity of them. But they would be easy to replace. It's not an exaggeration to say that this microscope has revolutionized the way I work on circuit boards.

The main mounting column not square to the base. Problem appeared to be the base to column bracket was not machined properly at the pivot bolt. Amazon has shipped a replacement. We'll try again.

Got this primarily to work on electronics since as I get older I have a harder and harder time seeing the small stuff especially when soldering circuit boards. With its 10 inch screen, adjustable light arms, flexible clip arms this really frees up my hands and makes it so much easier to see things. Easy to put together and the useful arms on the frame where you can put the soldering spool and some smaller tools is very useful. Very well built and super easy to use. It is highly adjustable and gets the job done. I have also used it to look at some coins and crazy how clearly I can see everything in great detail. Overall super impressed with this digital microscope. You can even hook it up to a larger hdmi monitor or tv. Also comes with 32 gig card and multiple lenses depending on your use. The included remote adds easy to access functionality like photos, videos, and zoom functions plus more. It also has the ability to connect to your computer but I have not tried that feature yet. Overall this is a super user and feature rich microscope / soldering station that has tons of uses and is very well built.

This digital microscope with a 10-inch screen, adjustable illuminators, and flexible gantry is perfect. It also has "third hand" clips, a crossbar for tools, and trays for organizing small parts. It comes with 3 lenses and a light for microscope slides. You can take snapshots to an SD card or output to another monitor via HDMI. It's versatile for teaching or demos. You can focus up to 300mm away from the subject, reducing crowding. Minor issues include needing a wrench to adjust the vertical pole and some play in the focusing dial.
