I feel comfortable having kids use these knifes. They are a serrated design that is not very sharp. Works best on veggies not meat. They feel like you can make a decent mistake and not get hurt. I have another name brand kids knife and that thing is sharp but not tip like these. Finger guards are nice I will learn if they are good or bad in the long term from a habits stand point. Learning a claw grip is very important and once you have it down you are so much safer. Please dont use these on the thin plastic cutting boards. Make sure you have a good solid cutting base and it will be so much safer. Thin easy to clean with a matte coating. Im not a fan of the belt able sleeve. Pointing a knife towards you is inherently dangerous. I have found nicer kids knifes but they are much more expensive and I would make my kids use these first. I dont recall when I learned to cut but I worked in restaurants in my early 20s and have good knife skills.I dont think you can make a 5 star kids knife IMO. It needs to be safe but still functional. That creates this scenario where the knife is too dull for my daily use but safe enough for a kid as a first knife. The other kids knife I have is sharper and straight edge with a round tip. So you now develop skills with a sharper knife but it does have a plastic bolster. Then would be the step to a chefs knife 5-8in with a pointed tip. I never had a kids knife just my parents dull knifes. :) The most important thing is how it feels in your hand so ask you kid what that like or dislike and find the best tool for them. Maybe it is a santoku or a cleaver maybe they can just use your knives.I will add in crinkle cut knifes work similarly where kids can use them with overwatch. Bento veggie cutouts are another good tool. (certainly keep them away from the mandolin slicer).

My 8-year-old loves her kid-friendly knives. I taught her knife cutting techniques safely at our kitchen table. I highly recommend this stylish and kid-friendly product.

My daughter is always wanting to help in the kitchen, and these were the perfect addition to her kitchen tools! These cut great but aren't sharp enough to hurt anyone. The handle has a great grip, they're easy to use and easy to clean. The kit has 2 knifes, 1 knife cover and a finger shield for little ones to learn!

It is a good set for kids to use. It is difficult to cut yourself with these knives but not impossible. They don't seem sharp to touch, but if you Swipe across the blade, you will get cut. It improves the safety of knives for kids but don't expect it to be completely safe. They still need supervision, but are a great starting point. They dont weigh a lot and seem to be well made.

Ordered these kids knives so my toddler could help me food prep. The photos are bit misleading imo because they looked like the hard plastic knives but these are metal and still sharp. I don't think I would let my 3yo use these yet. Plastic yes, actual metal, hard pass. They are still good just not age appropriate or what I thought they were. This set would make a good gift for your little chef, because of the box presentation though. The knives have a hard plastic/silicone handle that fits comfortably in small hands (I have small hands, I tried them out). The description says they are wooden handles, so unless there is wood INSIDE the plastic/silicone then that is not an accurate description, I see no wood on these knives. The larger knife has a sheath with a belt hook (not sure a kid would need that on a kitchen knife?)The smaller knife blade does not have a sheath.A finger guard is included with the set, but again, it's not age appropriate for a toddler because his dexterity is not on that level yet. So this knife set is for older kids for sure, probably 5+ when they can hold a knife and finger guard, and whatever they're chopping, all at the same.Lastly, the blades as I mentioned are metal and the cutting edge is scalloped but it's still sharp enough to cut.Wish the pictures were a little more accurate because the blades are much lighter than in reality. Thus the reason I thought they were the plastic kids knives. The description does say in small letters (not in the photos) that they are stainless steel blades. So just read the full description, don't just look at pics.I included my own pics for reference.
