I used to struggle with wind noise and awkwardly placed mics that kept getting in the way. This kit? Solved both problems effortlessly. The invisible lav covers are genius—no more distracting mic placement, and sound stays clean without being muffled. The skin tape also helps keep everything secure, even during movement-heavy recordings. No sliding, no peeling off mid-session.Wind noise? Gone. The lac concealer does exactly what it should—cuts interference without messing with audio clarity. I’ve used it both indoors and outdoors, and it’s consistently made a huge difference in keeping recordings smooth.

This to be a very useful piece of kit, which is specifical built and fit for the Rode Lavalier Go. It is not just a generic concealer. On a few occasions, I need to hide lavs for video messages, weddings at my church, and other events where you need good audio quality but don't want the microphone seen. I find the Rode Lavalier Go a good choice for my budget and it's tiny capsule size. This kit helps hide that capsule in a quick and efficient way.The kit comes with a silicone concealer, 6 pieces of moleskin, 3 deadcats, and a variety of pieces of tape. The QR code included with the kit directs you to some fantastic quality videos that will explain how to use a piece if you are unfamiliar.I've often use gaffer tape or moleskin to conceal lavs, but in many circumstances where the talent may be wearing a polo, knit shirt, or other garment with overlapping fabric, the silicon concealer in this kit is a fantastic choice. Once the mic is inserted, it is super easy to install and position on the talent. After installing my lavalier go, positioning between two buttons on my flannel shirt, and going for a 400 yard walk, I had minimal to no clothing rustle noise. Most rustle I heard seemed to be from my coat sleeves (over my flannel shirt) and NOT a result of the clothing touching the concealer. With that said, I used a flannel shirt, rather than a polyester or harder fabric shirt, which could cause some more abrasive rustle sound. All in all though, this performed a little better than expected. The travel case has a nice number of compartments and is both sturdy and compact. I am able to add other small pieces of kit I use for lav mounting to it, and keep everything in one spot. Love it!I have no qualms about recommending Bubblebee industries products now. Not only is this very functional, it is very reasonably priced.

This product interested me so much I actually bought a Røde Lavalier Go in order to test it. I own a pair of gorgeous XLR lavaliers by a French company known for the quality of their field recording mics, which I use with a Zoom F6 and F3. I use them to primarily to capture the sounds of nature.Still, the idea of concealing a mic and making stealth recordings has always appealed to me. I’ve bought special cases with built-in concealed mics for that purpose in the past. But in 2025, who wants to go through that when a smartphone is now capable of capturing decent audio quality? A cheap Røde microphone ought to be perfect for that, I decided.Unfortunately, the Røde Go had a TRS out, which my iPhone 14 wouldn’t recognize even with a TRS-to-TRRS adapter. For that reason, I had to return the Go even though all of the Bubblebee accessories worked perfectly with it.But the good news is that these Bubblebee accessories fit my Røde SmartLav+ perfectly, and the SmartLav+ also works perfectly with my phone. The Mic Hiding Kit is burgeoning with accessories! Unlike the disappointingly spare Outdoor Mic Kit, this one contains everything you’ll need for the task:A lav concealer, into which the Røde lavaliers only fit without their windscreens and windbubbles from the Outdoor Kit, but that’s really the point:For the Røde not to look like a microphone while clipping securely to your clothes using the included clip from a separate compartment of the kit. And the concealer paired with one of the kit’s fur protectors works pretty well as a windscreen. For the best wind noise reduction, you *have to* add the included “Fur-Outdoor” protector. (It’s supposed to reduce clothing noise as well, but the Røde picked up the skid of my shirt collar moving.)For that purpose, you also get several “Moleskins” to attach if you’re intending to record indoors. They, like the Fire-Outdoor, are lav covers, but I clipped a Moleskin to my concealer even with the Fur-Outdoor because it blended in with my black shirt. You get four sizes and thicknesses of covers in as many compartments of the included container, which is perfect for storing all of these tiny accessories. And in each compartment, you get five different covers. You also get round bandaids of tape intended to protect your Røde from the Fur-Outdoors glue residue, but I didn’t bother with them. A refreshed Smartlav cost $30 and I’m just not concerned about a mic like that as opposed to my AKG C414.But if glue protection matters to you, know that you get five strips of three each. Finally, you can affix the mic cord to yourself using the included “invisible skin tape,” but I didn’t bother with that either — mostly because I didn’t want to waste the five strips unless I really needed them, which would probably be an undercover operation! You can conceal the matte surface of the tape with makeup if necessary.I didn’t have anywhere clandestine to go — my spy calendar is open — but I went to the the tiny park next to my building to record the conversation of smokers on a bench. You can’t really capture clear subtleties with the Røde, but I wanted to see whether people would notice I was wired. They didn’t seem to notice. They stayed where they were and kept talking. The concealer did its job, but the recording wasn’t usable in terms of capturing the whole conversation, which is probably a limitation of the microphone, which needs just enough distance from the source and no more to sound its best. The 15-mile-an-hour wind was hardly a problem. But I still need to do more tests with the different lav covers and compare them to the fur windscreen and lav bubble I got with the other Bubblebee kit. I might return to this review to upload the results.Either way, the Hide Mic Kit is amazing — well thought out, form fitting, efficient and generous.

I've really come to like Bubblebee products. So far, everything I've used by them is high quality and well thought out. This kit is designed for the Rode Lavalier microphone and by far the most useful kit that I have ever purchased. Worth the money for the Lavalier Concealer (it gets used for almost every interview shoot), everything else is just a bonus. This kit gives you so much flexibility in hiding your Lav mic without introducing noise from clothing rubbing across the mic.The Lav Concealer has the model mic its designed for imprinted on the underside; I have this kit for each of my different Lav mics so that feature has been really handy.I love that all of their kits come with a plastic organizer box. For years I have been putting my Lav kit in little pouches or old first aid kits and this is so much better.

Overall a good product. It's a plastic armor you put around the mic to avoid rustle, then stick it on...add a layer of wind protection if you need. The instructions are non existent, so it's a bit baffling at first, but the hooks on the rubber part slide off and don't need to be there if you're using adhesive. It's a bit overpriced for what it is, but better than the typical undercovers, which have you putting adhesive directly on the mic and often the adhesive pads won't fit, but this product keeps your mic clean. You get a packet of form fitting adhesive stickies that are proprietary, but you can improvise the adhesives if you run out.
