This machine arrives in mostly functional state, however go on youtube and you can learn learn how to set this machine up. There are a few moving parts on the machine that might need some observation to make sure they move freely. If any parts bind or rub they can be adjusted with washers at pivots to give rubbing parts some travel clearance. Use nylock nuts on some of these bolts, so they do not come apart as some bolts are there as pivots and not designed to be fully tightened. Many of the nut and bolt sizes are M6-1.0 Metric.Once you have the moving parts moving free and clear, then you should mount the machine on a wood pedestal riser and mount pedestal riser on a nice big flat piece of wood with rubber feet. Enough to clear the hand crank. Make sure machine is stable when cranking. Also lubricate all contact and pivot points with oil.The next thing to make sure is to know how to verify and possibly set the 'timing' if needed. This involves setting the rotating bobbin hook to swing right past the threaded needle, just as the needle goes to full depth and begins to go back up. Then learn to route the thread through the machine and set the thread tension. There are many youtube videos showing everything I have mentioned above. Once it is set up, it is an amazing machine! I have sewn through very thick material with zero issues. This machine is not 100% 'plug and play' but if you have the patience and some fabrication skills to set this machine up, you will have a machine that easily does what machines many times this price point can do. :-)

Overall i would buy this again if needed. It is shipped covered in oil. Some of the edges are sharp and will cut you, i know that for a fact. After wiping it down i had to fine tune it. My stitches from the machine looks like hand-stitching which is sweet and the look I want. There is no skipping stitches. I can stitch through 2 layers of 5 to 6oz chrome tan leather

I dont even know where to start. This “machine” is a nightmare of perfectionist such as myself. I’ve seen ugly tools in my life. I was born in the USSR. I’ve seen vehicles welded from steel garbage containers. But THIS THING beats them all, no contest. It looks like it was assembled by a legally blind paraplegic on a dark night during earth quake and after that it was transported to final destination for 500 miles by pulling it behind a truck on a chain. And ONLY after that, dirty, oily and scratched, it was covered with CHROME! You bet it wont stick. And no - even if you are lucky to assemble it after watching youtube, and did not bleed to death by cutting yourself over sharp chips of chrome and oil paint that is peeling off, it is still NOT working all the time. I tried to sew a foam sole to a thin leather sleeper and broke 3 needles because they constantly hit metal plate on the bottom. The metal legs are a joke, the base plate is crooked, the thread holder is made from bent bolt, springs are attached by winding them over metal parts. The whole thing is filthy peace of sh covered with some used dirty engine or transmission oil. Do yourself a favor - dont buy it. Just dont.
