If you need a new pressure balance spool this is your part. Don't waste time and money buying the cheaper copies. They don't work the same! I couldn't get satisfactory hot water with the knock off.

This was the mystery part that needed to be replaced for a shower not working. Rumor has it if you callMoen they will send you the part for free because it isn’t supposed to need to be replaced before the valve. Also has lifetime warranty. Easy install and didn’t leak, don’t forget to use a massive head flat head so you don’t tear it up and strip it. Also make sure it shakes/rattles correctly before install

This was on sale and i opted to get the authentic part vs a potential knock off.Replaced the part (getting the 25+ year old one off was an interesting adventure)Immediately fixed the water balance issue (did change the cartridge as well but that wasn't the issue) so we coukd use the shower again.

High quality part, don't settle for the cheap copies. Like others have mentioned, removal of the original balancing spool can be hell. Had to drill mine out, eventually got the brass remnants to unthread, and was able to use a hook tool to fish out the rest of the spool/cartridge. I am back up and working perfectly with this part.

I ordered this for my Moentrol shower. I was only able to get hot water & had to really work the faucet to get a mix of hot & cold water. After dealing with this for a very long time, I searched on-line for a resolution. I thought it was the cartridge, but replacing it didn’t help. After further research, I read it was probably the balancing spool. I found the price on Amazon was reasonable. It was fairly easy to remove the old one. I used a chisel with vise grips to turn it. Came out fairly easily. The new one went in easily. Now my water temp adjustment works PERFECTLY!!!!!
