If you're using a dynamic microphone really up close then you can get the fan noise to be inaudible in the recording compared to the volume of your voice. I had the fan at desk height around a foot and a half away from the mic and it's still inaudible. With a condenser mic slightly further away from your face the fan will probably be a bit audible if it's at desk height. But you could get it even quieter by moving the fan below the desk or maybe behind you or at your feet pointing up. That might make it usable with a condenser mic.As for how much air it moves, it's certainly less than a regular room fan or desk fan. But it's the difference between feeling like you're gonna melt and being fairly comfortable. And that's all I really needed. However, it's not the peak of summer yet. 29c / 84f. So I might have to grab another one of these fans and place them both under the desk and maybe even build some tube around it to see if that helps push the air from further away. The tube might also help block some noiseOr maybe I'll just wear minimal clothing and place the single fan very close to my body. That would cool much more than from 18 inches away which is where it's at right now.I made two safety grills for it from some metal baskets. But it's a great start and usable right out of the box. It powers from USB and can stand on its own on a flat surface.Just be aware that there's no grill out of the box so pets could get hurt - especially if the contact with it it scares them and they run and break stuff etc. Also the included cable is pretty short so you might need a USB A extension cable. It's less than two feet long I think.I didn't find it necessary to use any type of pop filter or wind screen to protect my mic from the wind but your milage may vary depending on how sensitive your mic is. With my behringer BA 85A dynamic microphone I had to put it an inch away from the fan to get any wind noise. But that has a built in grill.

This saved my Marantz NR1506.Someone sold me a $1000 receiver for $60 and all I had to do was attach a $40 Noctua fan…haven’t had any heating issues since

I bought this Fan for my Hurricane storm kit. I use Noctua fans for all of my cooling needs because they are very reliable and have great noise to CFM ratio. I have eight 120mm in a Full ATX tower that have been running for seven years straight. This fan is ultra quiet and paired with a Ravpower 3200 Poly cell it will run for five and a half days non stop. My kit has two such combinations in the event we have extended power problems after a storm. All together I have fourteen Noctua fans of various sizes and all are quiet and push a lot of air and never a single failure.
