It had a horrible chemical smell. It was the wood under the foam. I threw it away.

It's a little uncomfortable, but I am trying to make it work.

My wife is a keyboard player. I was looking for a piano bench that would support my wife's back during extended playing gigs. This product appeared to be more substantially built when making comparisons of similar products listed on Amazon. It was straight forward to assemble - primarily just screwing the pieces together as described in the provided instructions. I adjusted the back of the bench so it provides very good lumbar support. She says it is a significant improvement over the backless benches she has used in the past. Note that you will need to experiment with the back support adjustment to find the "sweet" spot.I like the rubber grommets on the bottom of the legs to prevent floor damage. So, my wife likes it - enough said.

Good value for the price. The height is adjusted with bolt placement up and down the legs, does the job permanently. There are air hydraulic piano benches that sell for about $300 that allow for more fine tuning of the height and they are luxurious looking, but keep in mind that eventually the air seals start leaking and won't hold the height. If the bench manufacturer does not sell replacement air hydraulic cartridges, the bench will have to be thrown away. How long the air hydraulic cartridges will last is unknown.

The bench itself is nicely padded and sturdy. The attachable back is top heavy and causes the bench to topple easily. I suggest just get the bench and buy a gel pad specially made for backs. That's what I did
