Found them too thick, the thinner version is much better

These brushes work great on the cajon! I have played all three sizes and can say that none of them are very durable. The grass is going to come loose. And you’ll buy them again because nothing else provides the same earthy, crips attack with a balanced, thick, mellow low end. I use these on a mic’ed cajon and have tried every kind of brush, whip, rod, brooms, etc that exist. Becuase it’s mic’ed, the texture of the attack is super important. Sometimes the harsh slap of other nylon brushes works for a certain beat, but these brushes are the whole package: great, crisp slap and thick, round low end. Couldn’t ask for a better brush. Could ask for a better price though. Especially for them to start shedding as quickly as they did. Also, I’ve kept my oldest broomsticks alive so long by 1. Removing the bottom cap and supergluing the stalks again and 2. Dabbing a little super glue on the stalk that comes out and poking it back it all the way to the bottom. That said, they get played hard for a 2 hour practice every week and a 2-3 hour gig, biweekly. Also for what it’s worth, I’ve used these brushes for a few drumset applications, and it’s not like they don’t work for that, there are just other things that work better. It’s very hard to get much cymbal response from them at all. They worked best on the drumset playing snare driven country rhythms. Love these brushes and, unless they start putting some stronger glue in them, I’ll be buying them again.

Having used the larger broom sticks purely for noise reduction while practising, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed playing with them. My only gripe was the width meant that you got the quietness but with reduced speed. These are much thinner and have more attack, giving me the flexibility that is lacking in the larger ones. Had I know initially there were two sizes I would have gone for these.
