I like that this cypher disk is metal and it is compact so I can fit in small spaces for an escape room set up. However, a few of the numbers on the disk were difficult to read, and the numbers are small for some people who don't have great eyesight.

I'm very happy with this purchase! The quality of the metal is very good, it doesn't feel hallow or cheap, it's slighty under the metal used for real coins. It has a little tiny bit of weight to it and doesnt feel like its going to come apart. The letters are easy to read. The numbers are small and in my first impression I found them near impossible to read, but once i got some good lighting on the coin (Sunlight or room light) abd my eyes adjusted to the small numbers I could make out the numbers just fine. The issue is the numbers are carved in and pained with white paint it seems, so its hard at first to make out some of the numbers, but like I said your eyes will adjust to it. I dont have 20/20 vision at all but I can see them just fine. The middle wheel rotates left or right. It doesnt lock in place but it doesn't spin like a fidget spinner either. You can turn it and hold it side ways the center wheel wont turn. Very well made device, I love it!Update: the other night I noitecd the "0" in the numbers winow is slightly to far to left, if I turn the wheel to zero I ca see a little bit of the "5" in "25". Still love itand still worth a buy imo.

This cipher was exactly what I was looking for. I bought it to leave messages for my 10 year old and 6 year old while I was out of town. It is easy for all of us to use. The inner wheel does move freely, so we found that setting it down on a table and 'dialing' in the number worked best. It is small (one of the reasons I chose this one!), the outer ring is a little bigger than the quarter. The numbers ARE tiny, they have to be. But they're not too hard to read. Both kids can read them off without problem. They thought it was the COOLEST THING EVER! Absolutely worth the price, I feel like I got a heck of a bargain.P.S. I did find a bit of a cheat. I composed 32 messages for my kids while I was away. That would have taken me forEVER to code, so I googled 'caesar cipher' and used one of the many ciphers that popped up to code the messages. I left a message each day on our answering machine using the NATO military alphabet. Now both kids are proficient in that too, see! Educational ;)

The title about sums it up. I bought two of these, a copper and silver model, and sent this silver one to my girlfriend so we can exchange secret notes. An earlier reviewer had indicated that the top dial would freely spin and cause you to lose track of your encryption. The designer chimed in through a reply and said that they would adjust the tolerances and increase the size of the window displaying the number shift. Both design issues were indeed addressed, as the window is plenty large and the top dial will not freely rotate and in fact needs contact from your fingers to spin. It's that number shift viewing box I like most. Now I know exactly what shift I am using and the recipient of my codes can quickly shift to the correct decryption setting to unlock my message. The quality of the cipher wheel is on par with many military challenge coins, both in thickness/weight and details on the dials. It's about the size of a half dollar, so not huge but not small either. It is easy to carry and easy to read, both very good qualities to have on a tool like this.If I have one gripe it is this...the letter "J" on the inner wheel tends to blend in with the horizontal lines encircling the alphabet. Because of the proximity to the letter "I" this made my first few encryptions a bit difficult. It's a small flaw, and I do mean a very very small flaw that should not distract anyone form purchasing this cipher wheel if you are interested. All in all I think highly of the design and I would definitely buy another in a heartbeat.
