The SmallRig 5020 tripod dolly is a sturdy piece of kit with intelligently designed practical features. Each wheel's locking mechanism engages/disengages when nudged with a foot. This useful feature not only allows the user to lock/unlock the wheels quickly and easily, it also leaves hands free for other things - very handy (no pun intended) during shoots. The extendable legs also lock and unlock easily. A compatible tripod can be installed or removed rapidly with minimal fuss.With its legs locked and its wheels unlocked, the dolly can move freely whilst holding an installed tripod securely in place. It rolls most smoothly on hard flat surfaces such as wooden floors but can also roll well on carpeted areas and on even ground outdoors. Movement is ultra quiet, which doesn't matter if you're shooting still photographs but is important when filming video.The integrated handle is an inspired feature - perfect for carrying the dolly when it's collapsed.A carry bag with adjustable shoulder strap is included.The current price of £67.90 is good value for such a high-quality, practical, user-friendly piece of equipment.

This is an awesome way to change your regular static tripod to a mobile photo/video platform.If you're like me and don't bother to read instructions (not that any are included, but a QR code takes you to the Smallrig site) then just spend a bit of time looking around the rig to see what clamps and clips are available to use. I've taken some photos of the most important ones like the one to extend the leg holder clamp, the one to extend the actual legs of the unit, and the most obvious ones to lock and unlock the wheels. There's also two brass pull-locks to disengage the legs from their outstretched position when you want to pack this all back up.As for setting this up, it couldn't be any easier. Unclamp the gold clamps to get your tripod in, clamp them back up and use the thumb screw to tighten it securely.It was a bit tough getting out of the case the first time around, I put this down to the protective cardboard. Putting it back in was much easier.This is a heavy metal unit and is very sturdy. The wheels are nice and quiet and easy to manipulate, and the locks engage easily too. Functionally, this does exactly what it should do and nothing more or less.I've never really seen anything like this before but value wise I'd say the price is right to transform your whole camera setup to a mobile rig.
