Useful tool. Had to use 2 hands for 2" abs pipes. Clean cuts. Just make sure you start your cuts straight for straight cuts. O reccomend this cutter for the price. Still works great after 30 cuts

I've only used this for cutting 1 1/2" ABS so far, but it has made cutting that so fast and simple. I really like that I don't have to deburr, as the cuts are very clean.Reading the reviews before purchasing, I saw several complaints that it was impossible to get a straight cut. I practiced a little on some scrap pipe before trying to plumb anything I cared about, and here is what I learned. If you're making a cut within a few inches of the end of the pipe, yes, you'll need to be careful, brace the cutter with your free hand on the back of the pipe (keeping it clear of the blade of course) and go very slowly to get a mostly straight cut - it won't be perfect. Otherwise, getting a straight cut with more than a few inches of pipe on either side of the cutter is pretty easy; again, line up and brace the cutter with the fixed jaw behind the pipe, ratchet the blade so it is just touching the front of the pipe, check with your eye that the angle of the cutter / blade is still 90 degrees to the pipe, adjust left / right if necessary, and then finish the cut. My cuts came out as good or better than using a saw, and no deburring required!

I used this cutter to fix my pool plumbing. They cut through schedule 40 2" PVC nicely. I did a lot a research before buying and for the price I highly recommend these for the DIY home projects. I made about 12 cuts and had no issues. Very pleased with this purchase.2/4/17 - Update: As I was cutting the piece of long PVC I bought in half so that I could store it, the blade did chip while I was cutting. I will be buying a replacement blade as this tool did allow me to easily complete my project.

This one works really well. Having used a sawzall many times to cut pvc pipe prior to purchasing this cutter, I was very pleased at the ease with which the cutter worked on 1 1/2" pipe (butter) and even more pleased at the lack of mess and no need to clean the cut pipe ends. Wish I had bought one of these cutters years ago but I suspect I didn't due to lack of choices and the expense. This tool has a modestly padded handle even though it is not necessary.Ratcheting action is smooth and not so hard to actuate that my arthritic hands ache.Stainless blade is very nice since I don't do plumbing jobs everyday and the blade won't rust or ruin the tool between jobs.Tool is said to be capable of cutting up to 2 1/2" pipe. I can't confirm this but the ease with which it cut 1 1/2" pipe makes me fairly confident it can handle it.
