I’m a beginner to needle punch and this is my second kit. It was a very enjoyable and not complicated. My only “complaints” is that I didn’t have enough colored yarn and the plastic tool started irritating my fingers after a while. They gave 3 cream rolls for each template but I couldn’t make the rest of the colors last. I just used left over yarn from my previous project and it looked fine, just different from the given design.I will agree the instructions are a little sparse on technique and whatnot but it’s also the responsibility of the user to explore the craft more.(Note: I was trying to be fancy with the sunset one so it’s my fault I ran out of cream yarn)

I was very excited to receive this but it was missing two colors of yarn. I didn’t realize it until I had already started on the project so I finished one pattern with the colors I did have

I have used coloring books and I do crochet (mostly in the winter, because whatever I make is usually large enough that it warms my lap, so during the cold months for that craft!), but thought this might be an interesting one to try. My mother used to do some embroidery and I just never got into that one, but thought needlepunch might be more up my alley, so to speak. I found this kit was okay - I am older and would have preferred a more ergonomic needle punch so my hands/fingers don't get as fatigued while creating the pieces that come in the kit. I do like the three pieces and the colors to create them. For the price it would be a great small gift for anyone who loves to learn new crafts.

I have never done punch needle embroidery. I have done lots of different needlework, lots of things with yarn, and lots of crafts of other sorts. I got this kit because I assumed all of the phrasing about "starter" meant that it was good for beginners.Based on other crafting I have done, the material in this set seems to be of a decent quality. The hoop is a bit weird, and there is just the one of them (three pictured in this listing). One is all you need to work on the project, but if you plan to display them in the hoops, it is good to know there is only one. It is just bigger than the "coaster" print, so you have to either plan to be moving your work as you go along, or you have to spend the time to get it good and centered. The hoop also doesn't hold the fabric nearly as taut as it seems like you need to do this well. I grabbed a nicer hoop from my stash. As I always do with craft kits, I immediately checked to be sure that I have all the parts and supplies, which I do.Then I checked the instructions, which are just words. Well, there is the diagram of which color goes where at the top of the sheet. Anyway, back to the how to.Essentially, everything I learned from the instructions (which I'm putting into reasonably proper English, in the order in which I made any sense out of them), is:1) Do small areas first.4) The print on the fabric will disappear with heat, so a hair dryer will come in handy once I finish.3) And the stitch length varies with the size of the area being stitched (I think?). Background is 4-5 holes, normal is 3-4 holes, and small is 2 holes.2) Something about the poke needle facing forward, poking hard, sticking to the cloth, and not lifting too high. That is everything. Searching YouTube led me to some videos that showed me how to thread the punch needle (the long wire loop thing is a needle-threader), and I was able to watch someone actually doing the stitches.YouTube also confirmed for me that I was not able to get the fabric taut enough in the included hoop.So if you know what you are doing, this probably is a pretty good kit. But if this is something you've only vaguely heard about but never seen, you probably will need to go digging for resources to teach you what to do with this set.
