The mini U-lock short & longer aren’t thief-proof so if you’re locking your expensive ebike in a high-crime area, I wouldn’t advise these. Aside from sketchy high-volume bike theft neighborhoods, these will likely be more than enough of a deterrent to protect your bike compared to flimsier & flexible bike chain locks. I am a fan of the LPL on YT so I know this isn’t much of a deterrent for a skilled picker but depending on where you ride and store your bikes, these may be more than enough.

This bike lock offers many modern theft prevention design features, such as a very narrow centre keyhole, a pick-resistant keyway design, and a double locking shackle. While the locks are advertised for use on an e-bike, they are of a proper length to be used on regular bicycles and scooters too. You could also use the two locks on two separate bikes. The U-shaped shackle has a thin rubberized coating, which prevents any damage to your bike caused by metal on metal contact. The metal shackle itself is about 14mm in diameter, which is about medium thickness compared to its competitors. Ideally, only the largest of bolt cutters would be able to cut through.Oddly, the kit only comes with only one bike mount, which will only fit the larger of the two locks. The key paths themselves are proprietary so a would-be thief cannot easily get a duplicate. Via Velo offers its "Key Guard" program so you can register your specific key online so you can order more if you lose them. The kit comes with a lot of keys - six, all keyed alike - so you have plenty of spares. The kit also comes with six key tags in three different colours. It is interesting to note that Velo themselves say these are meant for use in low risk areas. So, these aren't a prefect solution. These are deterrents, and shouldn't be relied upon in high risk/high crime areas.

Amazing lock set. Solid build and feel for these locks. Listed as a level 9 secure rating and I believe it, with unique key design and setting it would be very hard to pick. U-lock appears solid enough to resist cutting and tampering. Size is perfect for any hookup I need to use. Love the additional keys and tags and the bike attachment.

I've come to really like Via Velo U-locks.This set of locks is grease towards guarding your e-bike batteries and frames. Keeping your battery safely secured when you leave your e-bike alone. But also, if you find that you need more locking places, you can supplement these with with an additional "cable"-style lock through some other parts of your bike.Lots of keys and key tags in case you want to distribute them to family (etc) label them on various keychains. Nice rubber coating on the business end of the lock, to protect your bike frame / paint job.Via Velo locks also come with great ways to easily securely attach the lock to your vehicle when NOT in use.I can definitely recommend these locks.

These locks feel secure when locked and the two sizes provides flexibility to easily lock your bike (large lock) and provide more secure – less pry-able – storage using the smaller lock.Included are 6 keys (includes a tag with a code in case additional copies are needed), 6 keytags, one bike securement (can only attach the large lock to a bike), and the two locks. The locks have openings as advertised, both with interior widths of 3.5” and interior lengths of 9.5” (large lock) and 5.75” (small lock). I weighed each lock – the large weighs 1221g (approx. 3 lbs), the small weighs 975g (approx. 2 lbs).Lock operation is smooth, but the self-closing design of the lock hole (rather than a protective cover) sometimes requires minor jiggling to get the key in. The entire “U” portion of the lock is covered with a rubberized material, and there is a soft ‘padding’ facing inwards from the base to prevent paint damage. When locked, there is minimal - but some - movement in both the in/out and side-side directions. We use these locks on old/cheap bikes in higher-risk areas (bike are locked up while shopping); we avoid parking our nice bikes in public places.Overall, I recommend considering these if you are looking for two gold-rated locks with common keys.
