Does what it says on the label. I like that it came with several adapters. I wish I'd gotten the slightly faster one for draining the hot tub, but this is much better than gravity.

We have a small patio fountain that came with a pump. The pump failed and I bought this to replace it. I knew this pump would be larger but I wanted to get a higher volume pump and also I liked the idea that this was a bottom dead pump.To get this to fit, I had to remove the aqua cover. The good news is, the cover is simple to remove and does not provide any real purpose other than the handle and possibly protection from if you drop a rock or something like that on the pump. I wasn’t worried about the accidental damage and found the pump to be more discrete without the aqua colored cover. The inside is all black and completely sealed. My favorite thing about the new setup is that the fountain can run almost dry and the pump keeps on going since it only needs about 1/2 inch of water to run. The previous pump required about 6 inches of water because the intake was on the side and was mounted much higher. One additional change I had to make was to add a filter since this pump does not really have a pre-filter. I went with a mesh bag purchased here on Amazon and added bio balls to the bag, also purchased on Amazon. This setup works much better than the small pre-filter that came with the old pump. The water stayed much clearer this summer.

I don't have an aquarium. I bought this pump because of the gallon per minute rating and being able to suck the water from so close to the bottom. It runs very quietly and has the output that it said it had. I love how small, quiet and powerful it is. I wish they had and option to send some flexible hose with it though. Using a garden hose makes it very clunky but it's not the pumps fault. Using a 1/2'' hose gives an exceptional flow rate, way more flow than my kitchen sink faucet.I will buy another one in a smaller size for a project I am currently working on.

This little pump is actually perfect, and I would give it 5 stars, but it does not come with a hose or tube for draining. But I looked a long time for a way to drain my portable bathtub (bought from Walmart, Amazon was out of the one I wanted), and finally settled on this little unit! The drainage hoses that come with portable bathtubs all pretty much have bad reviews, so I expected that it would not be easy to drain. The hose it came with was not secure, and after quite a few leaks and big messes, I started looking at water pumps. I originally bought too large of a pump; this one I am reviewing is perfect and is advertised to drain aquaria, ponds, small spas (I think), and water collected on rooftops, etc., but basically small areas. I took the pump to a hardware store to match up the hose/tubing size and bought a 5/8” size, 7 feet. The sales person at Ace Hardware suggested a slightly smaller size tubing (I think 1/2”) for a really tight fit, but I knew I’d never get it off if needed (due to arthritis), and the 5/8” size is fine, it doesn’t slip. If the tubing gets too loose after time, I will switch ends, and buy new tubing if needed! The pump also comes with 4 sizes of adapters for drainage tubes, but none that would work with a regular hose, one end of the adapter is threaded to fit into the pump, the other has notches. Anyway I don’t normally write reviews, but thought I would for using this pump to drain a bathtub, it’s great, and took me a while to figure out an easily workable system for draining the bathtub. Just get the right size tubing:) It takes only about 3-5 minutes to drain the bathtub, then I easily tip the tub into the shower to remove the remaining water.
