I had fairly low expectations for this considering the price but I am extremely impressed. It is made with solid metal fittings that are very robust and there is zero sag or slip once you have it mounted. The suction cup is equally impressive. I use it in a helicopter, mounted to the curved cockpit and I usually fly doors off so it is really important that it doesn't fall off. Even with all the vibration it holds solid for hours.

Works great. Solid I recommend it to anyone who is looking for something to hold and not shake while driving.

Impressed with the build quality of this mount right out of the box. It has a larger than average suction cup with a solid twist-lock mechanism that holds firm, provided you attach it to a flat, non-porous, and clean surface. The metal ball joints and the big, plastic clamp for the tablet give it a heavy-duty feel, and overall, it feels solid and well-built. Just make sure to clean the glass or surface thoroughly before affixing it, especially given the weight it might hold. If you’re thinking about sticking it to your dashboard, be mindful of textured surfaces—they won’t hold suction reliably, so it’s likely not a viable option without using the adhesive suction disk. To install this disk you’ll have to use a cleaner/degreaser on your dash to ensure you get a good bond. I haven’t tested this, but I’ve had issues with these holding long term with heavier weights, and potentially affecting the dash’s finish where it’s attached - this could be an issue if you want to use the adhesive disk.Once secured, the ball joints lock tightly, and the arm feels very solid. The arm is very adjustable but is also short (food for thought). It has no issue holding a table on our dash while driving, even over bumps or uneven roads, with minimal movement. However, depending on the weight of your tablet, your mileage may vary, and it may require occasional adjustment. All that said, there’s one potential drawback. The ball joints are made of metal with ridges instead of rubber. While this design works fine initially, metal-on-metal wear can smooth out the ridges over time, especially if you frequently adjust the positioning. High-end mounts, like RAM Mounts, often use rubber-coated ball joints, which provide better long-term durability. If you don’t plan to adjust it often, this shouldn’t be an issue. But if you’re going to reposition/reinstall it a lot, for long term reliability, I’d suggest something with rubber ball joints instead.Another minor issue is the arm length. In cars with deeper dashboards or larger devices, it can be tricky to position the mount without blocking part of the windshield or dashboard, especially if mounting lower on the dash, as opposed to up high where the mirror is. For me, it worked better when mounted under the rear view mirror. Just food for thought.Specifications:Compatibility - Fits 4-13” devicesBuild: Metal arm with plastic tablet clamp and metal ball jointsSuction Cup: Twist-lock mechanism with a 100mm adhesive disk included for textured surfacesAdjustability: Three adjustable metal joints for flexible positioningMounting Options: Works on windshields, dashboards (with adhesive disk), windows, or any clean, flat, non textured or porous surfaceAccessories: Includes adhesive disk, suction cup, and soft silicone grooves in the clamp to protect devicesPros:Sturdy build with metal articulating ball joint armLocks firmly in place, even on bumpy roadsLarge suction cup with strong gripEasy to install and adjustBig clamp that fits a wide range of devicesCons:Metal ball joints may wear down if adjusted frequentlyArm length might be too short for some setupsFinal Thoughts - This is a solid, heavy-duty mount that does a good job if you don’t need to adjust it a lot - the metal ball joints could become a weak point over time if you’re constantly adjusting it. If you plan to set it up and leave it in one position, it’s a great choice. But if you’re looking for something to tweak or install frequently, something with rubber-coated ball joints might offer better long-term reliability. Still, for the price, this mount offers excellent performance and durability, and is much better than a lot of similar plastic mounts.

I've used several holders similar to this one and they've all suffered the same fate -- death from trying to hold up an iPad. Typically they fall in the floorboard and the holder is broken or damaged or something and then gets kicked under a seat or out the door some dark night or ... who knows where they go? So here we go again, this time with a commendably compact and lightweight model built mostly of plastic but with key arm components fashioned from some kind of (unspecified) gleaming silvery metal. The silver metal parts go a long way toward relieving the otherwise unending aesthetic ennui of top-to-bottom black plastic. So, score a point for silvery metal.Assembling the unit takes only minutes ... unless you can Shanghai a seven-year-old, in which case it'll take them 30 seconds flat, start to finish. No kidding. Once assembled, smack it up on your dash or windshield, insert your mobile device, and you're set. Don't let your seven-year-old choose the placement; they'll put it somewhere weird, like on the brake light or something. And it's hard to see it back there, I can tell you.Anyway, once installed in the location of your choice, what device can you insert into the holder's jaws? Any phone. Any phone I've seen, anyway. And a lot of iPads and similarly-sized tablets. iPads are the only tablet-like device I use so my experience is limited to what happens when an iPad Air 3rd Gen is inserted. Fitment with my iPad is no issue when I position it vertically (portrait orientation) but with horizontal positioning the little (but voracious) jaws of the holder are just about maxed out. The jaws will just barely stretch over the iPad, but I worry about the holder's internal springs. I worry too about my iPad's cover. It gets really crunched because the fit is so tight. I could remove the cover but that's a hassle I prefer to avoid. For some reason I'm optimistic that the fate of this holder will not be a repeat of its predecessors. For one thing, it's lasted several weeks already without a single fall. Not even a serious wobble. In order to help it along and hopefully boost its longevity, I'm avoiding the iPad as much as possible and using my phone instead. So there, I'm doing my part. Check back three months or six months or something, and maybe I'll update this review. Or maybe not. One or the other.
