I've bought several of the WUTA 390 series leather crafting tools, like the French skivers, and it was absolutely amazing. The edge trimmer is an upgrade from the cheap kits, but not by much. These will leave pretty harsh marks in your work. I was pretty close to upgrading my whole kit with WUTA tools because I was so impressed with the French skivers. But these fall short for me.

I really wanted to love this beveler. As a knife guy I’m very familiar with M390 steel. This thing was unusable out the box. Iv sharpened it a time or two and it’s slightly better. I gave it 3 stars for its potential alone. I’m still holding out hope. Maybe it’s burnt steel or something idk but I’ll keep trying it!

Great tool, cuts well, but it is pretty narrow. I ordered a #2 & #3, but now see I should have ordered a #3 & #4. I looked at the leather pictures provided, but apparently, I was not a good judge of the mm's. I will more than likely order the #4 and eventually the # 5 as they are really nice sharp well-made tools.

So far so good! Well polished, it edges extremely well. You pretty much cannot feel it edge. Takes barely any pressure. The ebony handle is very nice. M390... To soon to tell if this really is M390@60hrc. But if it is, this edger @$65 is a deal! M390 has literally twice the edge retention of D2. It takes a thinner, sharper edge and is very very stainless.So, as of right now. I think this is a hell of a good edger. If it truly is M390. It will hold an edge for a long time, which means less sharpening, which means longer tool longevity. Being a hobbyist, this could likely last me 20 years. I plan to buy the entire set once I find out how long it will go without sharpening. If it goes twice as long as my Ron's edger (around 6 weeks), I'm going all in.If your unsure on size, the 1mm is a good all around size.The fit and finish of this is better than any edger I've owned. It is fully mirror polished. Yes, it's made in China. But you will not find a super steel edger made in the US. They are stuck in the stone age here. If you want a made in US edger @$65 made out of an unknown non stainless "tool steel". Go for it. M390 is a very stainless tool steel and will hold an edge longer @60 HRC vs an old school tool steel @62 HRC.
