A heated mattress pad has been a God-send. I started using them a few years ago. Between all my aches and pains and our pets, we love having the heated pad. I kept telling my husband how great it was but he wouldn't think about spending the money for his bed. So I bought it for his birthday and now he loves it. He agrees now that it was a game changer.

Pros: Heats quickly. Adequate cord length. Adequate depth to fit high profile mattress.Cons: Even when set on the lowest setting, it's too hot. Tempted to send it back but will probably just use it to pre-warm the bed before retiring for the night.Disappointed that the controls do not have an indicator light to give a visual indication that the unit is on, and at what setting. After the unit is turned on and set the indicator light goes off and you can't see if the unit is still on or at what setting without having to fumble for it in the dark or turn the light on.

Westinghouse is a great name so I spent a little extra to get the quality in the name. I've bought many heated mattress pads over the years, all with their share of deal-breaking problems. This new one (Westinghouse) is very well made, and comes with good directions. It fits my bed perfectly and, while I liked the quality and the way the receptacle was sewn in--here is the biggest and worst problem:There are FOUR cords to plug in AND they are all located at the bottom of the bed. I'm still trying out the options for setting this up. At first, I thought, 'OK, I'll only plug one side in' (It's a dual control and I keep one side cooler than the other). Well, that didn't work b/c they only work if they are both on. So I have one side perfectly going up the side of the bed and into a plug. The other side ran up the side of the bed but then was too short to reach the plug the safest way--continuing around the upper part of the mattress (remember, I have two plugs for each side). So last night I slept with the wires and control running over the bed and under the pillows which is not recommended. I'll try something else tonight but am not looking forward to it. I will post an update if I can. I don't want to return it as it does work well and b/c it is hard to find one that you're allowed to use in the dryer.

Let me start off by saying I wish I could have rated this three and a half stars. And none of the following is negative enough for me to send it back. But there are some really good qualities to this mattress pad and they're just a couple of things that make it come off like they tried to save a nickel to keep this from being a five-star item.First, I absolutely love the fact that there are two separate power cords and controllers that come off the corners of this pad. I can't stand trying to run cords up the middle underneath the bed and then the tangle of wires to go to each controller on the nightstands. But that's just negated by the fact that, as another reviewer mentioned, the cords are about 2 ft short of being able to actually tuck them under the bed a little bit and still reach the nightstand. So you're left with the cords actually sitting on the floor right under the edge of the bed. 2 ft of wire would have cost them another nickel and made this a four-star review. The good, the display light does time out after a few seconds so you're not continuously blinded at night. I think I read another reviewer said that they didn't turn off. Maybe I have a newer version. The sweaty, I really wish the heat in this would taper from head to toe. You don't need your midsection to be as heated as you do your feet. Your feet are what gets cold at night, at least for me it is.Now for the reason this is probably rated higher by shorter people, I stand 6 ft 1 in tall. About the bottom 9 or 10 inches of this pad has no heat wires in it. So my toes actually still feel cold at night. I've gotten used to wearing socks and I guess I'll just have to keep on doing it.
