Good idea but functionally I can’t get any of my cards to work. Installation is a bit tedious as well. It’s rather on the large size and I would call it pocket friendly. The magnets don’t have a strong hold. Over all build quality is lacking. Not a good value for me.

Small, but not small enough and hard to suggest that it's pocket friendly. The lid is attached magnetically and they're not particularly strong magnets either. Probably fine for a spacious empty pocket, however. The enclosure is over twice the area of a 2230 and much of that is just empty plastic. If you like the aesthetics, it might be a five star enclosure, and the Amazon price doesn't look far off of the mark. The activity/power LED is of the Extremely bright blue variety and is sure to cause a migraine if looked at directly.Three rubber things are included, only one needed, to fasten the NVME, and they're the best I've seen. The top is a semicircle that can be rotated around in order to hold and release the SSD. Probably should have been metal and builtin considering that it's a one size enclosure, but then I would have fewer of these rubber things.Even at 10Gbps, these SSDs get hot really fast. The thermal pad and plate look like they intend to make contact with the lid to help with heat dissipation, and it will be necessary to mitigate thermal throttling.Disk mark numbers using a PCI-E Gen4x4 2230 M.2 NVME with *poor* cooling(pad wasn't properly adhered).Your numbers should be better with a similar NVME(10Gbps USB connection, direct to the machine)!Test : 2 GiB (x2) [Interval=5 sec] [Limit=10 sec]Sequential Read 1MiB (QD= 8) : 986.73 MB/s [ 941.0 IOPS]Sequential Write 1MiB (QD= 8) : 995.63 MB/s [ 949.5 IOPS]Sequential Read 1MiB (QD=1) : 401.47 MB/s [ 382.9 IOPS]Sequential Write 1MiB (QD=1) : 794.39 MB/s [ 757.6 IOPS]Random Read 4KiB (QD= 32) : 7.56 MB/s [ 1845.4 IOPS]Random Write 4KiB (QD= 32) : 4.53 MB/s [ 1106.3 IOPS]Random Read 4KiB (QD=1) : 35.48 MB/s [ 8662.6 IOPS]Random Write 4KiB (QD=1) : 20.05 MB/s [ 4896.1 IOPS]

First off, I tried three NVME SSDs that I know work fine with this unit and all return the same errors (see photos). All other factors are irrelevant if the drive won’t work.I do like that it came with everything you need, and how the cover is magnetically attached. It’s bigger than it looks - don’t like that. And I hate how the blue LED is so bright and cannot be turned off. It’s so bright it’s a distraction.I would not buy this again, even if it did work, because of the size. It much bigger than it needs to be.

No need for a full size M.2 enclosure designed for a 2280 when your drive is a compact 2230 or 2242 – and this square enclosure may just fit the bill. Using a Realtek 9210B, this bridge chip is compatible with both SATA and NVMe drives.Performance wise, it’s about what I expected. Running a benchmark on a PM981a drive on my desktop with USB 3.1 gen 1 ports (5 Gbps max), it peaked around 600 MB/sec. on USB-C, 440 MB/sec with its USB-C-to-A adapter, and 40 MB/sec. on a USB-A 2.0 port. A couple caveats -- its aluminum cover doubles as a heat sink and overall gets quite warm, and the being that it's just held on by magnets, it could fall off when dropped. It’s also a hungry one, with it being finicky on ports which don’t appear to offer enough power. Directly on my desktop through the USB-C port was fine, as was using its attached USB-A adapter. Laptop with USB-C only, it was fine. Through an unpowered hub, it didn’t like it, with it dropping out. If it’s not working, make sure there’s enough power! I did not try this with other devices such as a phone or tablet. All in all, it’s an affordable way to put some spare drives to use. It’s faster than a regular USB flash drive and being that it uses regular drives, it’s more flexible than ones already built as proprietary small enclosure drives.

First off, it works great - I had a few 256gb 2230 ssds around, so I stuck one in and it reads it just fine. However, I'm not particualrly fond of the magnetic top, as I feel the magnets aren't strong enough to be sure it won't fall off (eg in a bag that's dropped, or in a bag of other things that may catch on the lid). It also seems excessively large compared to the size of the drive it takes - a lot of empty space exists within the plastic shell.
